New DUO laundry powder strength ... Does it NOT seem that concentrate to you ?

Hi all,

Last week i used for the first time the new 500gr box of DUO top load laundry powder that has replaced the 1kg box ... On the new box it says it gives the same amount of wash loads as the old 1kg box ... BUT the new powder doesn't appear to have the same suds (or doesn't appear to be that concentrated) so i added a bit more than recommended on the pkt so therefore went through it quicker

Does anyone else think the same ???

No suds whatsoever. The new concentrates sucks. I have to use 2 scoops to get some suds.

Yep, I find it's the same for many 'concentrates' I'd stick to the usual strength but reinforce it yourself with bicarb and vinegar.

BTW check out my gallery HERE to see how buy my laundry powder: 20kg bag of OMO... ends up being about $2.40 a kilo. Lasts about 4/5 months. Only way to go if you are a large family.

I hate it too!! I used to use half a scoop of the old stuff and need to use a full scoop of the new 'double strength' stuff.....we are being ripped off!

There's a place in Brunswick Melbourne that sells bulk goods to restuarants (and the public) called Bass Foods. They have a good website. We go there about 3 times a year for our OMO amongst other things. Been doing it for about 5 years now. Saved a small fortune. Very happy with the OMO btw.

How much bicarb and vinegar do you add to the 20kgs? Do you mix it as you need it or mix the whole 20kgs at once??

Well, i so was happy to buy my usual big 10kilo box of Duo concentrate laundry powder from BigW yesterday for under $20 ... after my trying out the NEW version which i just can't compare

Still gonna check out Bath's suggestion of the shop in Brunswick at some point

Bath, ... yeh price$ divided by 10 ... Been buying this box for over a year now & on the occasion it's on special ... DD use to have a touch of eczema & once i started using this Duo concentrate she hasn't had it again other then when friends that have given her their children's preloved clothes washed in their laundry liquid/powder she then breaks out again !!

Hey, Bath does that place in Brunswick have disinfectants, dishwashing liquids, floor cleaners(for mopping), etc ... there ?? And if so, can you recommend any other products that they sell which you've given a try ??

Bass stocks some of the major brands of cleaners... but also some that are major brands overseas but not here in Australia like Persil (laundry powder) that I think is big in the UK and US. I'm pretty sure they also stock larger sizes of surface cleaners like Jiff. They stock fabric softeners but I don't use them. Yes, pretty sure they have bulk disinfectant though can't think of the brand (I'm not overly loyal to disinfectants... happy to experiment). Virtually everything a restaurant needs they stock... Chux clothes, scourers. Sometimes I go there to buy a particular brand and they don't have any in stock so they aren't as reliable as Coles for example... but they are always cheaper when they do have something in stock.

Bulk rice is another thing we always buy there... waaaaay cheaper than regular supermarkets... and honey... but that's off topic... might need to start a new thread on Bass foods

Ooooh I love Persil! Used it all the time when I was in the UK. Also one of the top brands in New Zealand.
