    Steam Mop

I borrowed mums today and i am in love with it. Did our whole house in less then an hour

So im after recommendations. Im interested in teh H2O steam mop - the danoz one that is on the morning show. My house is all floor boards except our kitchen which is tiled. I like this one cause i can do our floor rugs, windows, clean our bathroom and floors.

We have a Hoover one. Works wonders! Love it so much. Gets the crayon off the tiles so easy!

I have one of the $19 ones from godfreys and i looooooove it! I only have my kitchen, laundry, front foyer bathroom and toilet that are tiles so it does the trick well.

They are just so much easier and faster than a normal mop! Though mine does make my tiles slippery because they get so clean so we have to be cautious!

The person at godfreys did a nice demo for us with our Hoover mop. Put just about everything down and it picked everything up! & he was so nice to us.

I didn't realise they had a 19 dollar one there!

We were also told not to wash our steam mop pads with fabric softener or bleaches as it ruins the microfibre and not to use a cheaper steam mop that leaves our floor too wet, because it can ruin flooring depending upon what you have! Definitely worth the $250 we spent on it!

    Edited to add

They also told us the danoz direct ones have a short warranty. And godfreys handle their own warranties & have parts on hand so no postage etc. I was so impressed!

This was at christmas time, though have seen it on special for that price a few more times.

I only wash my pads in the wash with the linens and they come out good. And ours doesnt make the floor too wet, just wet enough. I love the smell after its all done, smells super clean!!

I might upgrade eventually but for now ours does the trick and with my back i hated how much effort is involved with a normal mop.

Might have to look into one. I hate using a mop - slopping dirty water using a dirty mop to make my floors clean, LOL!!

Does anyone use a steam cleaner on slate?

Is it worth getting a cheaper one? Or is it only worth getting an expensive model?

    Recommendations?

    Thanks

I suppose it depends on the slate and how deep grooves are etc how uneven the floor is iykwim?

I've googled a few. Have a look at the Hoover heritage steam mop or the Kenwood steam mop. They both have awesome reviews!

    Thanks

The tiles are rough if that makes sense. Dumb question, but does that make the steam mop less effective?

I wouldn't think so. The heat from the steam might make the floor look dull though, it has with my foorboards. You'd probably be best to talk to someone at Godfreys about it.

Yeah, that. :-) they've helped me with my floors.

Tinks, I was told not to use steam mops on floorboards :-\ were they sealed?

I was told when I was looking not to use on floorboards as its not good for the wood, so stuck with normal mop. Majority of our house is floorboards.

I was told that too but then told if they were sealed it was ok. My house is quite big and 75% floorboards so the steam mop makes life that bit easier. I'll admit I'm lazy.

Some do have this option. Some obviously don't. I find if they heat up water with a ceramic tank they leak heaps (I think because they heat all the water at once, then it turns to steam iykwim?) rather than the option of dropping the water over a heating element, I think that's how he explained it. It was a while ago though!

I used to have a multi functional one, but it died in less than 3 months. I went and brought one just for floors from Sam's Warehouse.
