    steam mop help !!

I am looking at purchasing a steam mop, one that does more than just floors. Anyway it is a rectangle head one, and comes with 2 micro fibre pads which is fine but I can't buy replacement pads for it. They however do replacement pads for their triangular version. Just not a fan of triangle heads, but might have no choice LOL.

Does anyone know if the rectangle heads on steam mops are all basically the same sort of size? Cause was wondering if I could buy pads for another rectangle head steamer to put on the steamer I am considering purchasing. The pads that come with it are elastic stretched.

Not sure sorry, I have a bissel rectangular head one. Can you not try the different replacement pad on the mop in store so you know right there and then? If they don't have them in store, I can send you one of mine as I don't tend to use them (or the mop lol)

I have the bissel one too. I can measure the pads for you if it helps, or loan you one to check.

I have a kenwood steammop (its yellow andblack).
It has 2 rectangular pads. Its great as you can wash them again and again int he washing machine. If my floors are REALLY dirty and I go through both, I usually just rinse one out under clean hot water, wring it out and put it back on. They get damp anyway from the steam but at least it is clean again. Hope that helps as i have no idea if you can get more replacement pads.

I have a steam mop, and found the pads it came with were rubbish. They got soaked really quickly once they were dirty and as I have a lot of flooring to be mopped I could not get it all done in one go due to both pads being filthy. A friend suggested tying terry towelling cloth nappies around the mop head instead, and I use them all the time now. The steam gets through them much easier as they are thinner, so they don't get as wet when cleaning. Also the floor dries quicker as it doesn't get as wet. And as I have about 50 of them in the cupboard I never run out (although 2 is usually enough to get the whole floor done). Mine is the kenwood yellow and black steam mop.

It looks like it would probably fit the Bissel covers, they are about the same size head as a normal vacuum cleaner head. If you are getting it from crazy sales they include 2 in each size, so you should be ok with just 2, because you have 1 in the wash whille the other is in use IYKWIM

I have the same one as Alibaby, and like Trav said, you can just use cloth nappies. In fact when we bought it, the lady in the shop suggested it!

Have a look on product review - when i bought my steam mop, i looked there and lots of people were unhappy with their dual (carpet and hard floor) mop - which was one of my reasons for buying the kenwood one. I am easily infulenced by random people online!!!

I have a choice membership if you want to look there?

I work for a place which sells steam mops and to be honest I've had so many people come in and say that they are so hard to find pads for.

Try searching online for monster steam mop pads (these are triangle pads around about the sane size) or h20 pads may fit.

I own a wertheim steam mop and although it's not a multisteamer as such it comes with a carpet refresher and high quality microfibre pads. It just depends on what you would like to steam.

Oh and if your wanting to remove any stains in carpet a steam mop won't do this- only an extractor will. There has been a lot of customers in lately expecting stains to be removed. Also steam mops generally can't clean grout lines 100 percent. There is something more effective!

If you need any help or would like any further recommendations I'm always happy to help out.

Carpet isn't an issue. We don't own any LMAO.

What is more effective for the grout lines ? Not that I'd really be worrying to much about steaming the grout anyway. Not on the floor at least, as they are pretty badly stained.

Astro- the grout cleaner I recommend is a chemical called tile plus you can only get it from godfreys stores I think..? you use it like 16ml to a litre and leave on for 10 mins then mop off (steam mop off) works wonders! Brings them and the tile up like new! Oh and use it with a grout brush (a very hard bristled brush) for better results hope that helps

Well I ended up biting the bullet and getting a triangle head 3 in 1. Will see how we go. Does same stuff as the one I wanted does, just a triangle head and the replacement pads are more readily available.

Melzi - will be going to godfreys and having a look for that stuff.

Haven't got the steam mop yet, it is on the way and should arrive next week. Even then I won't be allowed to use it till my birthday the week after LOL. It is my birthday present from Andrew, as it was the only thing I could think of that I wanted so I had to pick and order it LOL.

As for Godfreys. I haven't been there yet either. They are only a 5 min drive away. Do they sell the big 5ltr ones of it, or smaller versions. I did google it so I knew what I was looking for and only saw 5ltr containers lol. Don't think i need quite that much

Astro- they only stock it in 5litres. It's a great chemical and you'll use it everywhere... Bathrooms, tile, I use it in my oven (just keep it away from the seals) it's wonderful. And I think it's under 40!$$

Ohh exciting! Let me know how you go with the steam mop.
