    Talk to me about vacuums...

I'm interested in hearing from people who vacuum and least once a day as the last few machines I've had haven't lasted very long at all.
I currently have a Shark Navigator and it's a great machine except for the fact the hoses are literally disintegrating. It has so much duct tape on it that it's getting harder to actually use the machine haha. The machine I had before was a dyson and didn't clean my carpets very well at all.

So... what do you have, how long have you had it and how many times per day do you vacuum?

    Thanks

I've got a DYSON, it's a little over 5yrs old. I vac the lounge & hallway almost every day at the moment, the kitchen, kids room, stairs & my room every second day & the car once a fortnight.
It's still a great machine (although if love a new one) and I'm about to look at ordering a brand new filter for it.

Miele are awesome. We recently got rid of our shed vac, that was the house vac, that was DPs parents vac and i think they got it second hand. it was over 30 years old. Also have a Miele inside, and it works great.

the only two i have used that work to an awesome standard are miele and dyson.

I have and love my dyson. it is now 10 years old and going strong. I clean the filter out every 6 months or so and it comes up new. It's weird that yours didnt have the power?! we have had ours when we had 2 cats, and a dog and toddlers and carpet lol...it was fabulous! i hope that it's not that the quality is going out the window now that they are super popular...noooo!

Re: Talk to me about vacuums...

I have a vax. I wanted a carpet cleaner & mum & dad have used vax for about 20 years now. They're on their 3rd one (#2 was second hand).

I bought mine almost 12 months ago. While suction is fine, and cleaning is great, I'm not impressed with the cheap parts my hose was never sealed where it goes into the machine. SIL also has tape on hers there & recently my main head cracked, so doesn't stay on. The pet hair remover stopped spinning with in weeks too, but I can't seem to be able to pull it apart & untangle it.

I need to check my warranty & replace those parts, but I'm really not happy. It has great power otherwise & I love the carpet cleaner. I did use it every day before I moved.
I don't have carpet in this house lol, but use it for mats, the car, lounges & if a bed without a protector gets wet.
Vac itself is lucky if its used once a week now.

My vacuum sucks. Or maybe that means it doesn't suck...

Miele. Love it. Got it on sle at HN and it beats all my expectations. The sale assistant sold both dyson and Miele and she said she swears by Miele every time, even after owning both

    Thanks for the replies

I won't go back to a Dyson, for what we paid for it it just wasn't worth the $$. I was cleaning the filters every single day and washing them once a week and it just didn't have the suction. It was also terrible for blockages, a tissue would block the pipes and that's just annoying! The vacuum we have now did a heaps better job than the Dyson, it's let-down is that it hasn't coped with regular vacuuming lol. I'd prefer one that doesn't have the normal tube hoses. It needs to be a reinforced hose however the only one we've been able to find was $1600.... OUCH! lol

We live on a farm, so lots of dust & animals lol we also have very old carpets and the house is mostly carpets so we need a machine with a motorised head.

We have an industrial strength backpack vaccume.
If you can stand wearing it on your back, it's awesome.

I love my Dyson. I love that I can wash all of the components so that it stays clean. Also, if you suck up something (say a toy or sock or anything else) that you want to retrieve it's easy to do so.
