    Question Washing machine cleaning..

How do i clean my washing machine, (i dont mind what way) but its looking rather gross, ive had it for a few years.. (ok 6..) and have never cleaned the inside

    suggestions?

Its an older one (it was new in the box when we got it) like has the dial thing no buttons.. it has one of those things in the middle that you put your fabric softner in.. i had a peek and it looks nasty

    please dont judge me.. ha

I clean mine with epsom salts or vinegar. Just tip some in the bowl and the fabric softner bit and put on a normal cycle

Yep, empty load I do vinegar, but must do one with bicarb from the ex's over use of softener (I don't use it at all).

I do a hot wash with a cup of vinegar in it and a dash of eucalyptus oil with water in the fabric softener section. Works a treat!

Oh I need to do this too. I've had mine for about 10 years and have never cleaned it! Never occurred to me! Only the fabric softener tube down the middle.

For the vinegar and bicarbonate combo- how much bi carb do you put in?

When we had a top loader we would do it every now and again with hot water and dishwashing liquid or vinegar. Either works a treat

    Washing machine cleaning..

I usually put the cycle to small load on cold, add to bucket of hot water, 1 little of vinegar and about 3 table spoons of bi carb. Tip it into machine once filled with small load cold water and put it on normal cycle and let it do its thing. We've only had our machine 2 years, we do this clean every 6-8mths. Our water goes back into the sink, oh it's yucko! Safe to use as grey water though.

awesome. I've never cleaned mine too...never actually thought I had to =P but now I'm washing nappies, and have noticed a smell in our laundry...I THINK its the machine but dont know...could just be a dead mouse we dont know about! ha the world we live in =P

anyway... as soon as this load is done I will do it. might just give the vinegar and bicarb a go, see how it goes. Ive never used it on hot...i dont even think it is hooked up to a hot water tap...so would doing it in cold wash be ok? do you put the mix in the softner bit? or in the drum (where you put the clothes?)
