I just spent what felt like forever trying to get the fitted mattress protector and fitted sheet on!! Our bunk has a wooden rail right around it, which makes pushing the sheet down the side quite hard, and i'm lifting the mattress from underneath to try and get it under.
I only have access to 2 sides of the bed too.
What I'm doing at the moment...
fit it over 3 corners as best I can while standing on the floor... then I climp up and somehow manage to lift up that final corner, while I'm kneeling on the mattress, to get it over. Then the top sheet just kinda gets scrunched down the sides, but isn't really tucked in properly. It's really irritating me LOL.
LOL Liz, we had bunks (Well technically still do) but we brought ones we could split and make two single beds and that is what we ended up doing. So I can't help you with your answer cause our top bunk was only made the once till the time it was split, but I will be watching this thread as I know one day my boys will want them to be bunks again.
Yeah, ours splits into 2 singles too, Tallon has had his for nearly 2 years, and Kayla's was still in the box in the garage.. but we decided to make them bunks when we got it out for Kayla, just to save space really. But geez it's hard work making that top bed! LOL. Even the bottom bed is harder now, coz i can't really move the beds off the wall.
i used to have bunks when i was younger (and have a set in spare room now) with foam top mattress - i stand on bottom bunk, bend the mattress in half an hook the two back edges, then let it flop back down and do the front corners. if you do a top sheet and bunk isn't too heavy, drag one corner out by a foot or two and sneak in behind it to do the sheets.... most bunks aren't too heavy and will slide pretty easily out from against a wall. the ones we have at the moment are single on top double on the bottom and still slide ok for making the bed if need be
innerspring mattress. I haven't tried dragging them away from the wall, coz they'll be quite heavy, they're solid wood, with the 2 mattress on. Plus DH doesn't like me moving the bed just from one end coz it puts the legs off square.
innerspring is a little harder - wood bunks shouldn't be too heavy to move (but if your DH doesn't want it moved from one end it might make life difficult
maybe hook the backside on from underneat, so you ahve those two corners done first (lots of up and down - then the front corners...
