Wishing you luck on your journey.

I may be out of line here - but according to your signature you aren't too old at all for intercountry adoption. It is usually taken on the prospective mother's age and so long as that is under 45 there are still several options available. I realise that there may be other factors which affect your ability to adopt but age isn't one for you just yet. I have a friend who recently adopted a beautiful little girl from Ethopia and while the process did take about 2 1/2 years she is the most gorgeous little girl - she was just on two when she arrived and they are both in their early 40s.

I just wanted to drop in and wish you the best of luck in achieving your dream. The adoption laws suck & the TTC journey can be a most difficult one later in life.

Actually legally in Australia there is no restriction on the age of adoptive parents through the local adoption system - this would be considered discrimination. I know quite a few people in their 40's that have been processed in a variety of Australian states for local adoption.
The majority of people applying for local adoption are in their late 30's and early 40's now.
There are still those in their early-mid 30's and even in late 20's that apply and it is possible that they are more likely to be placed with a child.

However DCOS and other services can not stop your application, they can advise against it but can not stop it unless for other reasons.

I'm sorry - what does an "Australian" look like? Or does he just mean white?

    Uncool.

^ what Shades said - not cool
Anyways I think that since the 'stolen generation' inquiry they are very careful about who can adopt Australians.
