My DD1 uses this for school, it's fantastic, cannot recommend it highly enough, she's learned so much from it, it's interactive and it's fun.
There are also workbooks and flashcards that you can get as well.

As a teacher I highly recommend this program! It's great and has helped alot of children needing remedial help with reading as well as offered exposure to reading skills at younger ages.

Ditto AliBaby's comments. All the early years teachers rave about it.

We started the trial but I think I am going to continue. Some things my DD couldn't do herself but overall it was really interactive & the next day she asked to do it again, so that is a good indication that she liked it!

I didn't heard of this program before. But half price for one year, it's real a great deal.
My daughter has been doing extra online reading on beestar. I think it is a well-and easy used program. I like the simple presentation: text has nice simple fonts, the pictures and graphs are to the point not distracting and the stories are interesting. The honor roll, ranking, award programs are effective. DD always can't wait to do the exercises.

I'm going to be alone on this.
I don't like reading eggs at all I'm afraid to say.
Yes my dd liked playing on it, it was fun for her, she loved the games and retained absolutly no information whats so ever from the lessons and workbooks combined.
It is a combination sightword with sounding out blends approach. Was very flashy and interactive but at the end of the day no information sank in.
We moved over to the fitzroy reading method and bought their computer games. Worked like a charm! A true Phonics approach was much better for her learning style.

My kids love it and definitely learned from it. My only issue with it is it says haitch for the letter H.

DS loves it! He'd never used the computer until 2 weeks ago and he worked it all out within 30minutes. He's finished the first map in less than 2 weeks (I got the 2 week free trial) and now I've received another 4 week free trial so he's starting again. I LOVE that I can leave him at the computer on his own for an hour at a time (he's limited to an hour MAX per day) and he will go through it all without needing me, but alot of the time I do come and sit with him for a while and he really enjoys that 1 on 1 time together.
DS has an amazing memory, so this has been really good for him. He is also applying what he's learnt to other areas and he's recognising words and I would say that he can read a few smaller words already. Once this 4 week trial finishes I will be buying the subscription.

Highly recommend it! Can't wait to see what 12 months worth does for him before he goes to school.

DD is also doing really well!! Loves it as well, though she doesn't use it as much with school now, we have readers to do every night. DD could read within a month or so of starting the program

DD is using it because she is obsessed with letters - she can't use mouse very well though so we do it together - but a question - between each section of a lesson there is some sort of game where you can get extra eggs to spend in the shop - seems like you play while next section loads - but it goes so quickly we never have chance to get any eggs - any ideas how you get to play them?

I don't know how you play those loading games. Are they available in one of the other play areas of the map?

Re: ABC reading eggs online program

All the other games seem to cost eggs to play rather than earn you eggs. :-(

See even I am too slow for those games between levels - they literally flash up for one second and are gone - I can't understand how anyone is meant to use them. The only thing I can think of is that our cable internet is too fast at loading the next level and maybe a slower connection would give you chance?
