Exactly JF! The point of testing is because in a school setting they can't be sure what every child knows. Teachers do the best they can of course, but you can't give them that much individual attention I suppose. I guess they need to test them to see who might be falling behind. But then, I don't think a test is the best way of finding that out anyway. I am just so relieved we decided to HS. I remember the pressure of school and exams and am glad my kids won't have to do that. It was useless to me too. I would cram the night before, write down as much as I could remember, and then 5 minutes after the exam it would all be gone.

LOL, good quote. That is exactly my plan. I think my job is to pretty much teach them how to learn. Or maybe not even that, just facilitate their learning. I am like you, I provide them with opportunities and maybe I have an idea in the back of my mind of what I want them to get out of it, but the majority of the time they learn so much more than I expected, or take it in a whole other direction. I think what they learn isn't so important as being good at learning. Once they can do that, they can learn anything! They are so curious right now, they love learning, and I hope to keep it that way! I think without the pressure of tests and being forced to learn things they're not interested in, or in a way that doesn't work for them, I might just be able to do it!
