2 Generations with Endo

Hi all,

I just found this great site today, just what we need....a lovely place to share our experiences.
My daughter, Alana, turned 18 on the 2/7 and had her first laparoscopy on monday 9/7. They found endo and a few other things (benign), so we'll need support from you lovely ladies. We see the doctor for full results next month.
I had my Hysterectomy last November for endo and adenomyosis....I can function again like a normal person, ( I was debilitated for 18 months before that), yay!
I won't go into any more detail at the moment.....too much for my 1st post.
We both go to RWH endo-gynae clinic, what a fantastic place....I can't praise the doctors and staff enough.

Good to hear that you feel like a normal person again, after your hysterectomy
I was just recently diagnosed with endo myself (we are TTC #2) and my mum had it pretty bad as well when I was younger.
Hope all goes well for your daughter and you get some good results with her Dr's appointment next month

Your daughter is lucky to be diagnosed so young, hopefully she'll be able to manage better now you know she has endo. My mother also had endo and she went thru the same things as I am now, when she was my age. She has been a great support throughout my recent surgery although she would have liked me to consider a hysterectomy as this ended her troubles, I decided against it , fingers crossed I'll have a few years endo free.
I think you'll find this forum helpfull, it's surprising how many women have had similar experiences. Best of luck to Alana,

Thank you nic and Janine for the lovely welcome. Alana is battling an infection at the site of the umbilical incision at the moment, fingers crossed it'll clear up soon. we haven't had the report yet, another couple of weeks to wait for that.
Janine: Hysterectomy is a big step, even when you've had your children. It was the only alternative for me and while I'm so thrilled to be able to function as normal, on a deeper level it did affect me psychologically the fact that I no longer have a uterus or cervix. I think you've done the right thing Janine, I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you. I wish you a pain free life.
I started a thread about Endo and tampons which tells my family history and also a few theories that might help us. I'd love to compare all of our stories, some ladies have already posted their responses and it does seem that we all have a lot in common.
