    Clomid Question

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks for taking the time to read my question

FS has put me on 50mg of clomid and given me a BT referral for the 23rd day of my cycle. Sooooo far away My question is what did your FS do for you to check if you were ovulating or not when on clomid.

I have heard of getting an u/s done? Is this usually routine? I was thinking about going to my local GP who is quiet nice and asking for a u/s referral.

Would love to know your experiences.

    Thank you

My Ob started me on 50mg, I just did the 21 day BT to check progesterone. I fell pg with this bub on our second cycle. Good luck and I hope Clomid is as good to you as it was to me.

Hi Tam, the world of assisted conception is sometimes confusing...
I have worked in this area - & used clomid to conceive my last 3 pregnancies. My first obstetrician commenced me on 50mgs and asked me to have a 21 day progesterone level done. As you probably know we are looking for a level on clomid to be above 50ish. Depending on your doctor - every practitioner will have a differing view point on this. Now the 21 day progesterone level is only accurate IF you ovulate on day 14 - it takes approx 7 days for your progesterone level to peak. I do not (and many women do not!) ovulate on day 14 even on clomid - I ovulated on clomid on day 21 - day 19 at the earliest. So
the 21 day progesterone level is really a misnomer. The progesterone level needs to be done 7 days post ovulation. I did conceive but I used opk's to pinpoint my ovulatory time.

With my last two pregnancies I had a different obs. She was wonderful - I required 150mgs of clomid and I produced 3 mature follies when I conceived Imogen. We did daily u/s from cd13 and I was triggered on cd18 when 3 follies were measuring greater than 20mms. I was 39 (almost 40).

Personally I liked having the u/s an seeing that my follies were maturing and the trigger shot really isolated my fertile window. After so long trying to conceive a live baby it felt really pro active. I felt like my time was running out.

My first ob was quite arrogant about when I would ovulate stating that "all women on clomid will ovulate between cd13-16. This just wasn't the truth for me - and only because I had knowledge and experience I tracked myself .

So, I would advise using opk's to detect your LH surge - I would test at 2pm 8pm and first morning urine. I found I only got a true positive with FMU.

Wishing you luck - I hope that very soon you have your .

    Thank you

Flowerchild Thank you for your response, It's great to know you have had success on Clomid I hope I can be as lucky as you. My FS has my BT down from day 23 - 25. I would prefer the u/s just like you mentioned but looks like I will just have to wait for the BT. that it works.

Myson Congrats on having a healthy baby boy Thanks you for responding to my question it is much appreciated and to hear that you have had success first go is great. As I mentioned to flowerchild I think I will just stick to BT and see how I go. Even though I would have preferred the u/s to see if there is egg's or not. can get very tiring but it's worth it.

Gizzmo On your clomid journey I hope it is as short at Flowerchilds and Myson. Is this your 1st cycle 2? What dosage are you on?

AJC Thank you also for your response. Glad that clomid worked so quickly for you too. Thanks for giving me hope. Looks like the standard is just a blood test so will have to just stick with that

I wasn't so lucky as the others Tam clomid didn't work first go for me I am afraid - I was on my 6th month when I conceived Immy... She was a long time in the making! (3 early losses & 3 second trimester losses) You can always request an u/s - if you feel that is what YOU want...

I took clomid on CD5-CD9 for the first time this month. My specialist did not monitor me at all. I was very concerened that I wasnt getting monitored as it sounded like everyone else was. Be that as it may I got a BFP on my first round of Clomid. I just found out - Im so excited.

Good luck, Ive heard clomid do wonders for most women

I'm hoping to be put on Clomid tomorrow. Can I ask a few questions though and I know this sounds dumb but i gotta ask!
When you take the Clomid, do you have sex each day/second day or pinpoint when your ovulating and do it around that time?
Also, is Clomid a pill you take each day of the month? I haven't been able to find any specific information on it, how its taken etc just what it does.
My gyno is at the hospital and he is good but I like to have as much info as I can so I can understand it all

    Good luck Tam83 and gizzmo!
    Congrats to alana too!

    Hi Musik

your specialist will tell you when to take clomid if thats what is right for you. Its only for 5 days per cycle. Some say days 4-9 others say 2-7. Also we were told to have sex every 2nd day.

    Good luck with your journey

    ooo! good luck gizzmo!!

my gyno had script in hand yesterday to write my script for clomid and his junior (training hospital) said she wanted me to do a 21 day progestrone test, he didn't see what the point was because my cycles were so crazy but the girl said it was proper proceedure (lol) I was sooo sad but ahh well, it's just another month to wait.

Fingers, toes, eyes and legs crossed for ya gal!!!

    Just started Clomid

    Hi Everyone,

I am new to this so bare with me

It looks like Gizzmo and I are both running the same race. I am on day 3 of Clomid, but am worried because i have had no side effects. After researching and reading all different posts, i was so worried about all the potential side effects. But now that i have started and i dont feel even a little tingle I am worrying that it is not working.

Has anyone else used Clomid and had no side effects and it worked??

I really hope this first round works...I only have one shot at this!

Dont stress Kiki, I didnt start getting the side effects until the last day of clomid. I just had slight headaches. But after day 5 I was sooooooooooooooo moody and really emotional but they were my only side effects. Everyone is different. Are you charting?

I am charting, using maybe baby, i have a gazillion test strips waiting to start as soon as i have finished my Clomid.

I am so anxsious waiting, it has taken me 12 months to get the script for clomid and my husband in the same room. Never mind the 3 years of trying! It is so hard playing the waiting game, wondering yet again if anything is happening.

Thanks for your reply, i feel a little better. If i had side effects than at least i would know something is happening, make the waiting easier
