I live in Perth and have recently had my second op to remove endometriosis and a cyst in my left ovary. My first op was only 15 months ago.
After having my first lap, my doc never suggested any sort of treatment to control the endo.
Now after having my second lap, my doctor has recommended that I go on Zoladex or something similar to help treat the endometriosis and I am not too sure I want to. My Dr has said that it will bring on symptoms of menapause and its scarying the hell out of me.
I was thinking about getting a second opinion but not sure who to go and see for alternative treatments.
My gyno wanted me to do the same - in the end I didn't do it as I too was very concerned about the side effects and to date, I am not having any pain or symptoms. for me I thought why not give it a go au naturel for a while and see how things are.
I just finished my six months of Zoladex injections and I gotta tell you it was up and down. To begin with the hotflushes were murder, but that was nothing compared to the despression and mood swings.
This was just for the first two months, after that it got ALOT better. Didnt have an issue after the first couple of months, no pains cramps or anything.
Dispite the bad side effects that occured to begin with, I personally feel it was worth it. Most doctors will tell you the first couple are the worst then it gets better.
Since my endo has been so serve, I could never consider going without anything. Especially since Zoladex aids in making the endo smaller. But that's just me.
I was freaking out when the doctor suggested in, being 20 and having something that I shouldnt have for another 30 so years. But honestly I was glad I did it.
Hi
Thank you for your comments. It has helped me heaps.
I have decided to get a second opinion and see what they say. I think in the end I'll probably have to go on Zoladex but guess a second opinion can't hurt.
If I do go on Zoladex I guess I can live with the mood swings/hot flushes etc for a couple of months, just hope everyone else can
Thanks again.
