just wanted to ask if i was to go on injectables does anyone know how often you have them do you do it your self and what days do you have them
sorry may sound silly asking but would like to know before me going to the new gyno
How often you do injections and on what days will depend on your specialist's instsructions, and exactly what they are trying to do. There are several different protocols that may be followed. Some may involve taking the pill and then using a nasal spray called synarel (or another injection - lucrin) to turn off your body's natural hormones and only then starting the ovulation induction injections. Others run differently.
As for how the injections are done... you do them yourself, and the contraption they give you is similar to an epi-pen. It's really quite easy to use, but again, they will go through the instructions as to how to do it when you get started.
if you move to injectibles, as BW said, it really will depend on your protocol your doctor puts you on (and i don't think a gyne can set you on injectibles, you'll need to be referred to a fertility specialist)
for my own case, i have done injections daily for up to 14 days on a stim cycle, once a day - i choose to do them at night for convenience (and because my clinic said it's better that way given that if you DO have any hormonal flushes or whatever, you're not dealing with them at work!). i've also been using a protocol that, for several days just prior to ovulation, i have to have a second injection to prevent ovulation occurring - that one is done at a time of day set by the clinic (and i've been known to have to go into the bathroom at work to do it!) - but that one isn't as commonly used...
as BW mentioned, i've done all of the injections myself, as they're all subcutaneous (into the tum) not intramuscular. they're fairly easy to do, and you just get used to doing them yourself. if you're not confident, you can ask your DP to do it, or i know some individuals have had a nursing friend come over each night to do it...
