Hello, kinda new here and recently diagnosed with PCOS
Hi everyone!!!!!
I signed up to this site years ago, but have only just re-discovered it through researching PCOS.
I have an almost 3 year old son, and have been TTC # 2 since he was about 12 months old.
My cycles have always been messed up, around christmas i had a massive massive bleed (which i think was from clomid) and ended up in hospital. Since then ive had further tests done and have been diagnosed with PCOS. I'm just past the 3 month mark of being on Metformin, and af has only visited me once. I ve also started taking Vitex and an iron supplement, as my latest bloods show im low in iron.
Im still feeling a little lost with it all, but trying to educate myself as best as i can, i have switched to a log GI diet and have increased my exercise routine. I have probably lost 2-3 kgs in 3 months which is annoying. Since falling pregnant and having my son, ive probably gained about 15 kg.
So im sure you'll see me around asking question etc... Hello
Welcome (back) to BB - there are lots of women on here that are very knowledgable on PCOS. I myself was diagnosed in October 2008 and was very lucky to fall pg in December 2008/January 2009 and was on metformin at the time
Hiya,
Having been in a similar boat to you in the past I belive the following advice may be of use to you.
First of all, google & purchase the brilliant book by Francesca Naish - The Natural Way to Better Babies - Preconceptual Healthcare for Prospective Parents. Every couple should read this book and engage in the pre-conceptual care strategies at least 3 months before trying to conceive. It is a sad fact that most couples do very little in the way of detoxing their bodies prior to conception, and enlist in costly and invasive procedures such as IVF before they consider Natural Medicine, which has a much higher success rate.
I think part of the problem is that the conventional medical field and their associated medical sources in regard to pregnancy offer very limited information on how to effectively detox oneself from the plethora of toxic chemicals we are exposed to on a daily basis in our air, water and food supply - not to mention the extensive range of chemicals in mainstream personal care products and cosmetics that many of us feed our skins every day.
Limiting/removing substances such as alcohol, caffeine and tobacco are just the tip of the iceburg. Many of us increase our consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables, unknowingly increasing our exposure to toxic pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and fertilisers that are used routinely in conventional farming methods. All of which are known to have adverse effects on the reproductive cycle and fertility. Eating organic produce (or growing your own!) prior to conception is the only way to ensure these toxins are not being consumed on a daily basis.
Many of us also have heavy metals stored in our bodies at levels that no new life should be exposed to. Heavy Metals are in our water, our air, our food, and even some pharmaceutical drugs. They inhibit our absorption of essential nutrients and create an acidic environment in the body - where disease likes to thrive. These can be removed safely with chelating methods such as Liquid Activated Zeolite- also known as Natural Cellular Defense, by the company Waiora. Removing heavy metals will also decrease the acidity in the body and restore the Ph balance back to its ideal slightly alkaline state. Sperm need an alkaline environment to thrive, and if a woman's ph balance is acidic, her body will literally kill sperm. Learning about the acid-alkaline balance, and what foods are constitutionally acid and alkaline based should be part of pre-conceptual care for all couples.
By choosing only to purchase and use natural products such as the Miessence range for our personal care (deoderant, shaving cream etc), cosmetics and household cleaning products, couples will automatically be significantly reducing the amount of toxic chemicals they are exposed to on a daily basis. Bi-carb soda, lemon and vinegar are all incredibly effective at killing germs and should replace chemical cleaners in any household for those wanting to conceive or simply reduce their exposure to toxins.
