My sister is 18 & going in for a laparoscopy tomorrow.
She's been having extremely painful periods that make her physically sick for a few years now. She was put on depo as a strong pill wasn't enough, & as far as I know has been overlapping it so she doesn't get her AF. By the doc's advise.
On one hand I hope they find something, so they know whats wrong & might be able to fix it, but on the other hand I hope there's nothing wrong.
My mum had to have a hysterectomy at 29 due to unexplained bleeding. AF would come 2 weeks at a time 2 weeks apart.
And my best friend can't conceive naturally due to all the scarring from endo & a follopian tube being removed from an ectopic pregnancy.
I wish I could be there. I took my friend in for her last one. Just for support.
Oh the poor thing I hope the results come back better than expected.
It must be so scary for her, I can understand why you'd want to be there to hold her hand.
You sound like you'll be a great support for her and for your best friend.
My best friend has PCOS and I don'y know how much she knows about it but I'm worried about her chances of conception down the track.
to you and your sister. I hope everything goes well for her today.
I know how you feel. My mum had a hysterectomy in her 20's as well, and my sister is having problems with her periods too. Has since day one her periods started.
I do hope they find something, that way she'll have an answer (and hopefully treatment/cure) for it.
Good luck to you all.
When I was younger ( 16 - 18) I had a simular experience with my AF. And I also have a family history of hysterectomys from these problems.I was expereincing extreamly heavy bleeding to the point where I would faint from blood loss and some months even hospitalised due to the pain. I also had a laporoscopy and was put on the pill and advised to "skip" my AF, and was only allowing myself to have an AF once every 3 cycles. After a few years my AF regulated itself and the pain all but stoped along with the heavy bleeding. Its amazing how well the BCP combined with a laporoscopy can work for people with these problems. Fingers crossed it all works out for her. But she is in the best hands. Try not to focus so much on what happened to your mother that was obviously at least 18 years ago, science has progressed so much since then, there will be so many different options to help control your sisters AF now. Good luck and best wishes. i hope that my story gives you a bit of hope.
It is completley normal. The surgury itself doesnt take that long. But she may not be first on the list of surgurys for the day. There is a good chance that she may not have even been in yet. If she has been in, she has to go into recovery afterwards. She will be very groggy. And being in a hospital may not be able to turn her phone back on. Even if she is out and awake, she will be dorzy from painkillers too.
Hun, try not to read too much into it. She will be fine, let me know how she goes. xxx
I'm feeling better now that she texted me herself. She's OK. A bit sore & sorry. & embarrassed coz she bled on the floor when she got up. But she's OK.
I told her not to worry too much about the floor. Having a baby guarantees it too!!
She's on her way to macca's. I hope it doesn't make her sick! It did with my bf!!
She'll find out at another doc appt in the next few weeks.
