Posting for my sister. She is due to start Metformin next month and is wondering if the point of taking Metformin is to begin a new cycle upon taking it.
She's due to start taking it after her natural AF and doesn't want to start taking it and then get AF for a second time in a week IYKWIM?
I started Metformin this cycle. It shouldn't start af again for her. It is an anti diabetic medication. Does your sister have pcos? This is the reason I am on it. My glucose tolerance test came back fine but after repeated ovulation induction cycles being cancelled because my ovaries kept producing too many follicles we are trying Metformin to see if it will calm my ovaries down. I don't really know the exact ins and outs but from what I have read it can help girls with pcos. It can help with weight loss, but that is not always the case. For me I think I have lost a little weight but this is more to do with the side effects and having a number of days where I just don't want to eat. I don't need to lose weight though.
I hope that for what ever the reason your sister as been put on Metformin she gets the desired results. Best of luck
Yes she does have PCOS and that is the reason she's also been put on it. She's joined the forum this afternoon too so she can ask all the lovely ladies if she has any other questions about that side of things.
Her cycles are irregular, but more so short than long.
