Smile New to forum- anyone out there going through the same?

    Hi,
I was diagnosed with PCOS in my early 20's but as I was a long way from kids didn't think too much of it. Now 30, married, and desperate to have a baby. After 9 months off the pill without ovulating have been re-investigated and jumped through some hoops so I can have some clomiphene. I have been given the pill for 3 weeks to induce bleeding so I can start the clomiphene and feeling very impatient with the whole thing! How do I stay sane and keep up hope when I know that this thing may take ages. Want to be realistic but still am so excited and keep letting my emotions run away with me. Anyone else out there been on clomiphene?

    Hey Lyra, welcome to BB.
I really can't help with the PCOS side of things but I'm sure there are many who can.
I think a fair few women have used Clomid, which I imagine is the same thing just branded, but not too sure.
I wish you all the very best success with your TTC and hope that things happen quickly for you.
Welcome to BB, look forward to seeing you around.

    welcome to bb!

i know it's hard to keep your emotions in check (both positive and negative) when starting out! i too was given a tentative diagnosis early in my 20's, and didn't have it investigated til we wanted to TTC several years later. clomid (clomiphene) is supposed to help you to ovulate - be aware, it might not happen at your initial dose, so should be monitored closely! if you fail to ovulate, and they say about going on the pill again, ask for something that takes less time to cause a bleed (provera you only have to take for a few days, primulut is about a week from memory). unfortunately, this is all experimentation! but keep hope alive. it might take a while, but eventually, you have a good result that gives you something to smile about

just a couple of things to ask - have they done a glucose tolerance test to check if you have insulin resistance with the PCOS? a number of people here on BB have PCOS, and a lot of us are on metformin as the insulin resistance can hinder your chances of conception.

good luck - hoping your TTC journey is a short one

Thank BG!! Yep have had full investigations and don't have insulin resistance. The only thing that came up on my HSG was an arcuate/ sort of mildly septate uterus. As I'm not ovulating we don't know if thats going to be a problem yet. As if dodge ovaries wasn't enough my womb seems to be a bit abnormal too! According to Dr might not be a problem so I'm trying not to worry about it yet. So where are you in this journey?? Still trying to understand all the symbols and abbreviations! Thanks for the tip about provera- I was hoping that I could start the clomid sooner.

thanks Lyra - as i said, it's a long road sometimes, and it's bloody hard emotionally when it feels like everything is going against you - but when you get there, it all kinda disappears (and you start a whole new level of stress!)

    dont mean to intrude,

lyra stardust I was just lurking and read your post. My ovaries show polycystic features however dont have the syndrome. I have long cycles 37 days. FS has put me on 25mg of clomid to try and bring my cycles to a normal 28 day by making me ovulate earlier.

I also did have a septate uterus which was also mild but because I have had two miscarriages both a 5 1/2weeks FS pushed for the surgery which was done by day surgery via a lap & hysterscopy. The sub-septum was removed and I have had a recent u/s to check if my uterus was no normal and it is

I havent started by 1st cycle of clomid yet but will be next cycle. FS also stated that my luteal progesterone wasn't very good but hasn't said anything about fixing it. So I did my own research and found that vitamin B6 is a natural progesterone treatment. I have heard of good results from taking this. I went and brought some today so I will let you know how it goes.

If you have any questions about the surgery let me know.
