Unhappy PCOS... When will they help me?

I'd love some advice from you gorgeous girlies please!!!

I have PCOS but I have only been made aware of it in recent months. DH and I are TTC #2 but I am finding it impossible to know when I ovulate etc as my periods have become irregular again. AF was due last Thursday and I still haven't got it. I had done 4 pg tests all which are negative and I have AF cramps to boot.

Why does this have to be SOOO hard?!? Do I have to be trying for 6-12 months before the Dr will give me anything like Clomid? Or considering my "problems" are they likely to give me something sooner rather than later?

TIA.. From a rather confuzzled and stressed out chicky!!

    hey,

i know how you feel, I have PCOS and concieved on met/clomid. first time all times so my eggs just do not do anything without this help. my cylce varied form 19 to 90 days and i dont think i o'ed naturally ever.

if you doen mind me asking- how did you concieve Oscar?? with meds?? i found it best to see an obgyn and i forced my GP to precribe met before i went to him. i also found that opks and mayber baby etc did nothing because i always has a second line but never oe'd.

anyways i dont htink this has helped you any but i found my PCOS needed to be mamaged by a specialist,

    baby vibes your way hun

    xoxo

    Thanks for the reply LSK.

With Oscar DH and I conceived naturally, so it's not like I "can't" do it. Very interesting to read that with your OPK's they always had the second line though. Must have been very frustrating. I don't seem to have that trouble but I am quite sure I don't O every month

I am heading to my GP this week for a number of things so I will ask him about all this stuff too.

Danielle, you'll find that in the case of a known problem, they are much happier to offer assistance earlier.

However, there's not a whole lot a GP can actually do. I'd suggest getting a referal to a gynecologist at least, however with PCOS a reproductive endocrinologist is better (but tends to be a bit threatening and overwhelming as they are often attached to IVF clinics, even though there's more stuff they do than just IVF). Ask around to find out if there's a good one in your area.

For us - we'd only been TTC for three months before my PCOS was discovered. By 5 months I was on metformin and a couple of months after that we tried clomid for the first time and discovered that we'd need IVF when DH's sperm was finally checked... It took us a bit longer before we were actually ready to go down the IVF path, though.

    Good luck!
