Hi girls. I am feeling a bit down at the moment about my PCOS. Obviously as you can see from my ticker my babies were conceived using IVF and they are now 7 months old. I was hoping after a pregnancy I would get into some kind of regular pattern with AF, I guess that was wishful thinking.
I BF the twins for three months and when I stopped I got one AF pretty quickly. That has been it and it was four months on Monday since having AF. It is just really starting to frustrate me. I would like to take the pill again as I find it really manages my PCOS symptoms, but have been waiting for AF so I could start on day one of my cycle. I know I can go to the Dr and get provera if need be which I might end up doing. Has anyone heard of any natural ways to bring on AF?
Also once I have AF and I am taking the pill again would if be helpful to take Metformen or is it pointless while being on the pill.
mine were abit all over the shop after having Mia too. I also have PCOS. I just started taking the pill when i didnt have them. Buy the time i got to the red ones i got it.
But in ur case.. yeh provera will do the job. I think it would be pointless staking metformin while on the pill. Why do u want to take metformin anyway???
Thanks for replying Hollye. I didn't realise you could just start taking the pill without AF I thought you always had to start on day 1. Thats good to know.
I wasn't really sure about the Metformen and when it was used. I took it for only a short time while TTC and it was so long ago I really can't remember much about it. I just was wondering if it is just used when TTC or can be used to help PCOS symptoms as well.
I'm taking metformin to help with ttc with pcos but my understanding is that the reason it helps with ttc is because it helps regulate your homrones thus your cycles. Do you want to ttc again? If you do I personally wouldn't go back on the pill, because it really messes with your cycles and can take ages to get back (as you probably know). If you don't want to ttc again then the pill will prob be a good way to help with the pcos symptoms.
As for naturally bringing on AF, my naturopath had me on vitex (or chaste tree) to help, but in my case it didn't (but I have other issues besides pcos so its no indication of it not working!). What finally worked for me was primolut n (like provera). I took it for 5 days and AF arrived yesterday, 4 days after I stopped taking it.
accupuncture can be used to bring on AF hun - and is a more "natural' approach than provera
with the Met, i would think if you're having a lot of side effects related to the insulin resistance then it's worth it, but if not, i wouldn't go there - it's hard on your tum and something you ccan't stop/start on a whim cos you'll notice it heaps
as to the pill, you can take it without AF if you can confirm you've flat-lined hormonally - this can be done with a simple BT... i would be relucctant to take the pill if you're looking to TTC at any point soon - i'd be trying for more natural forms of contraception...
