    OPKs and PCOS

I've seen people mention a few times on this forum that OPKs do not always work for women with PCOS. Just wondering if anyone can explain why?

I can understand that you might be likely to miss things if you only check on CD9-14 or something like that but would testing every day work?

You have to have a rise in LH in order to ovulate even if you have PCOS right?

Is baseline LH too high in PCOS and causes false positives?

    Confused...

Hi k4t I have always found that I get a positive OPK with PCOS at any time of my cycle. I think its because of the hormones produced by the PCOS throws out the test result. Dont quote me but thats my experience with OPK's. I go by o pains and symptoms instead.

with PCOS, due to the hormones being "hinky" (for want of a better word!) you'll almost always get a positive OPK due to the level of LH (from memory) that is circulating all the time

Yes, baseline LH levels will show up as a positive all the time, so you won't detect an actual real positive.

If there's a better word than "hinky", I want to know about it!

Yep, what the others said k4t.
