I have PCOS and am due to start an FSH cycle tomorrow, but I haven't had a period yet. All the info I can find says that it has to be day 3-5 of cycle, but I'm day 29 or something close. I had bloods which showed baseline but I;m a bit confused because last time (2.5 years ago) I had to take the pill for a month to induce a period before I started.. so what's different? I'm just wondering if there was a misunderstanding today at the FS? I can;t sleep! Anyone else ever been given FSH without having a period first??
Not wanting to confuse you further but that certainly doesn't sound right to me...
I have had few cycles of FSH and all had to be commenced on CD2-CD5..
You might want to just double check before you commence...
Sorry, I agree with blinky. I was given the pill for a month before I started to induce a period. I've got PCOS as well and could never judge when my day 3-5 would be. I would be calling to double check this as it doesn't seem right for me either
thanks, that's what i thought too! Yeah I had to have the pill for a month last time to "start" a cycle. I was so surprised by her saying start tomorrow I didn't really question it... I'll ring as soon as the clinic is open. I'm thinking she maybe thought my bloods from yesterday were day 2 bloods, as she didn't ask. Or maybe she knows exactly what she's doing, but it couldn't hurt to check!!
If the blood test has shown that your hormone levels are low enough, it should still be ok to start. The fun thing about irregular periods... it's possible that your hormone profile on whatever day matches the hormone profile of someone on days 3-5. Call the clinic for reassurance but it isn't necessarily wrong.
Butterfly warrior- you were right! Full marks. I rang the clinic and they said because my bloods were baseline it was ok to start. Basically because i bleed 28 days ago my endometrium isnt too "old", if I hadn't bled for months (like last time) then I would have had to do the pill to induce the period first. Phew! I was all psyched up to start today.
I'm glad I checked though or I would have worried about it, and that's not the best way to start.
thank you SO much for your replies all of you! It's so nice to have someone respond and help.
