    time for laparoscopy

Those of you who've had one is 3 hours normal for a laparoscopy? My sister went in at 9.20 this morning & is still in there. I'm starting to worry.
When my bf went in for hers she was only in there for about 2 hours.

    hi,

they both seem long long times for laps. i have had two in the last few years. the first one was about 45-1hr. they removes polyps and severve endo. the second went for 30-45mins and removed a large choc cyst.

maybe she is out of surgery and is in recovery.
i spent the whole day on recovery with my first one as i was in huge pain. i also kept vomiting and could'nt keep any food or liquid down. i was almost admitted for the night. turned out i left home at 8am and got home at 8pm. most of the day was a blur.

the second lap was better as i told the anest man that i was sick the first time. he gave me something to help with the nausea. i was still dizzy and had a few hours in recovery.
i suppose it depends on what the find when they are operating.
    hope this helps.

    Hi BJRose

I have had recuring ENDO (and PCOS) since I was about 14 years old and I am presently recovering from a Lap resection of Endo level 4 and 5 (which I had 2 1/2 weeks ago). Before I had my surgery I was told it could take up to 3 or 4 hrs depending on what the need to do, and I agree with 'kittycat27" your Sister could be in recovery. Praying that your sister gets the outcome she is hoping for. Stay positive and kep smiling.

    me 32 dh 31 (together since 1999!)
1 x Advanced lap/resect of endo, removal of adhes pinning down bowel (and review of PCO'S)
    shortly commencing clomid :P
    MC 03/01/2007 (8 wks 6 days) & MC 31 May 2008 (6 weeks 6 days)

    Thanks guys.
I think it took so long coz they had a real good look around.
They didn't end up finding anything. They are talking about more surgery in the next few months to see what's going on. Don't know exactly what it will be though.

Question not sure what to expect...

    Hi
I'm new to this sight, and haven't done this sort of thing before, and feel totally out of my element! I'm due to have a lap next tuesday, and don't know what to expect with the recovery.
I have had the dye test, which was so painful, and they weren't able to complete it. I would just like to hear from anyone that can offer some first hand advice.
