Womyn with PCOS, what is the sex of your children?

I have 2 girls and another unknown on the way (due to find out in a week hopefully) and have noticed a bit of a trend in PCOS womyn having girls!

    What do you have???

My sister has PCOS and also has 2 girls.
My Mum may have had it and had 2 girls.
My Aunt may have had it and has 1 girl.

I'm very curious to know if girl is predominant with PCOS, I've never read anything about us having girls more than boys (even tho its meant to be the male that carries the boy/girl gene).

    Cheers,

    Beck

ok. this is an interesting theory. I have pcos and i have two girls. sis has pcos and she has 3 girls. in fact my gran had 4 girls and of all my cousins are predominately girls! 80% girl rate!

perhaps it is related to the irregularity of the cycle for many pcos women.????

to increase your chances of having a boy you need to DTD on the day you ovulate.

x sperm (girl) live for up to 5 days y sperm (boy) only live for 2-3 days.

so if you dont know when you Ov then you are just taking your chances and hoping you get it close. But the girl sperm live longer so they are hanging around waiting for the egg, which could show up at any time. I know i didnt explaoin that very clearly but in my head i know what i mean. statistically you are more likely to have a girl cos the girl ones live longer?????

also women with pcos generally have a little more trouble concieving, so possibly this means that they DTD more often. Which can decrease the amount of boy sperm available. for a healthy count of boy sperm you need to only dtd every 4-5 days but then this makes it harder to actually have boy sperm meeting the egg on O day.

AND, having pcos can mean a woman is more likely to be overweight (yes, thats me) and therefore suffering from things like heartburn, reflux etc. These probs in the gastro tract lead to increase in acid levels in the body. and acidity favours girl sperm and kills off boy sperm.

    yes. very interesting topic indeed.

    Hi

I don't know of anyone else in my family who has pcos (i'm sure someone has i come from a large family).

I have 2 boys - but I wasn't diagnosed until after they were born. I believe my angel baby was a girl

myson- WOW thanks for that info... i love BB i learn something new every day,

I dont have PCOS but do have PCO. my 1st was a boy and it wasnt until almost 2 yrs after him and no AF for a yr that we discovered i had PCO.

After the diagnosis and some progesterone tabs we concieved a baby girl.

I was reading a diff thread about PCOS and most were saying they have girls... weird

i'd never really thought about it. my maternal grandma who started the PCOS trend in the family had two girls. my mother who had an ovary removed at 21 due to a cyst had three girls, my mother's sister a girl then a boy. my two older sisters have PCOS and have a boy and girl each, i had boy-girl twins and then another girl (she was conceived with a cervical cap and spermicidal cream)...so far my niece with PCOS has no children. but my elder daughter has PCOS too, and my younger is marginal - which the doctors tell her means if she gets thru puberty with her weight down, she may not develop it.

Hmmmmm, well we had a girl, but I would say its more coincidence than because I have PCOS.
We had IUI (using Clomid), knew when I ovulated so the little swimmers weren't hanging around waiting, plus I wasn't overweight when I got pregnant (no heartburn etc) not that it matters as the swimmers bypassed anything acidic and went straight to the uterus. Plus we used donor sperm, and that means the donor would have held of from sex for at least a few days before donating. LOL. But for a natural cycle, then myson your theory sounds plausible (hehehe, thats for the phrase mythbusters!).

I have PCOS too and have a baby boy.
One of my friends also has PCOS and she too has a baby boy.

I read something a while back where it said that there is a very hight rate of Clomid bubs being girls though.
