Can't really comment on organic, but can on latex. Latex is wonderful to sleep on, but a complete pain in the behind to move. Very heavy and it has no structure, so wobbles. So just a warning, if you get one, make sure your bed is where you want it to be and is strong enough to take it.
I would like to know more on this too. We would love to change all our beds over to organic ones...I remember googling it once let me see if I kept the page......
Thanks very much The latex organic ones are almost double the wool ones hat I can see anyway... But I really do want organic toxin free. I'll keep a googlin!
Well I'm completely confused. The latex sounds like the best way to go & some reports say they can last a good 20+ years. That sounds like a good deal hey?
If anyone has any experience with organic latex let me know!
Latex in general is known as the bees knees in bedding......it will last and last and last and doesn't get body formed divets in the bed like other mattresses can......you can get it cheaper by getting a bed that has a latex top on an innerspring bottom these are lighter, easier to move etc etc.....I know nothing about the organic side but I would definitely go latex over wool...wool will conform to your body and you'd end up with a saggy mattress I reckon.
I have a latex mattress (but highly unlikely it is organic!!) and it is wonderful and still great after 8+ years. I love my bed But yes, it is heavy so don't plan on moving it too often!!
Mel I want pure latex as I don't want the inner spring thing for cosmic reasons! (the whole idea of sleeping on a magnetic force is doing my head in....)
Shel I actually helped a friend move her latex mattress last Saturday - holy moly it was an effort alright - it was like moving a giant heavy jelly! But she says hers is ace - but it's not organic.
So Michelle yours doesn't sag or anything? Is there any negatives aside from the whole immoveability of them?
Blessed Earth has this you beaut cover in wool that softens the bed as well. OMG it sounds like heaven... Now I'm visualising all my microbes in my mattress & the affect of the inner springs on my sensitive aura... As if I wasn't having trouble sleeping before!
Shel do you use latex pillows? Are they like big slabs of inflexible liver? That's what my mind conjures up. Are they comfy?
I have a latex pillow and it is lovely. There are some very dense ones and others that are not quite so liveresque There is a slight body groove on Greg's side but nothing that causes rolling and it is 8yo. The only downside with mine is it can't be flipped over due to the pillow top. It can be rotated but not flipped.
Oh - the other downside ......... you hate sleeping on different beds
