    Rubbish bin lining

    G'morning

I currently use plastic supermarket bags to line my rubbish bin - what enviromentally friendly options do others use? What's out there? Would prefer something not really expensive...

Hope I'm in the right part of the forums!

I am also using the supermarket bags because of an issue with next door having roaches and the babies coming into my house! New house my DP is going to roach bomb while Charlie and I are interstate and I might look into something like the new target bags that are cornstarch based or something. I'm sure i saw some eco friendly ones somewhere

I buy the biodegradable ones on the roll. A lot of people think that using supermarket bags is a good option, but really it's not, HDPE and even LDPE bags take SO long to break down, and it sends the wrong message to supermarkets, I think, that you want plastic bags.

The roll of 30 biodegradable bags costs $2.37. We reduce, re-use and recycle, as well as composting, so we only go through a roll a year. Pretty cheap option in my opinion.

I'm also not OK with cornstarch bags/cups/plastic There are 6 billion people on this planet, with not enough food for all of us, and we're using a foodstuff to carry around our junk?

I have a pail-style bin and when I get to it first I line it with a few sheets of newspaper...across the bottom and they sit up the sides a little. Means it needs to be washed a little more often but most of the yuckky bin ooze goes to the bottom where the paper is.

If you're composting and recycling (and feeding scraps to your pet) the bin contents aren't usually too yuck, kwim?
