Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

Does anyone have one? We really want to try and source our own power and being on a mountain we were thinking that wind is the way to go.

Does anyone know if we could make one (DP is very good at stuff like that) or just buy one? We really have no idea how big it should be or if it doesn't matter and it's all about how much wind there is.

Look into Stirling Engines There is a couple of guys in Brisbane I think it is that are producing them (or able to produce them) for home use... Take up some space - about 3 x 3 metres - but are totally self sufficient and produce enough electricity for you to cover your entire usage. About $15k.
When DH gets back from work I will ask him for the guys' names for you.

Not anymore I don't think, and not sure they would cover this anyway.
We are getting one though, worth every penny I think
