Before you became a SAHM, what did u do?

I find that so interesting Sequoia - I too worked in mining and found it really easy to be a woman onsite. Never encountered any discrimination or had a hard time. I found the blokes really easy to work with and the women friendly - we tended to band together and support each other rather than the *****iness you hear about in other workplaces. I'm sorry that you didn't have a good experience.

Highly unionised production workforce and strike action was threatened often. The company was at the mercy of the union basically. The women were fabulous, I am still very close to a couple of them. I was told if I were a male I'd be on 10k more, by my own boss no less Mind you, I was 23 and it was my second job out of uni and all I saw were the dollar signs, ..... live and learn eh?

I mainly job-hopped.. did lots of random jobs because I get bored so quickly.
So, I did call centre work for a food company, call centre work for a mobile phone compnay, web design, reception, technical support, insurance underwriting assistant, administration, sales support, computer training, call centre training, a little bit of work at youth camps for kids with disabilities. My last job before my daughter was born was the insurance one. I was there for about 16 months before she was born, I took 14 months off, then went back part time for just under a year. By the time I got back to work, the compnay had been bought by a larger organisation and they made half our staff redundant but they did take me back, however, my job had changed. I didnt really like it before, and I absolutely loathed it once I went back, so I stayed for a while to save some money and then I resigned.

I owned and ran a Pilates studio. Not actually due for another 8 weeks but closed the studio down, moved South and will open up again once I am ready. Am currently teaching 1 day a week for another practitioner and will continue while I feel up to it. My profession allows me to work my own hours which is handy.. full time for me is around 20hrs (right now I'm doing 5 hours), and I love what I do so I will keep my finger in the pie. But my main focus will be doing the SAHM thing for a while. For now I'm enjoying all this ME time!

before the twins were born i had a music school and taught part time in a montessori school. I then went back to work when the twins were at kinder and then at school as a Director of Studies at an International School. I am still doing this role at the moment, but have put staff in place to do the hands on stuff so i can stay home and do all the SAHM stuff as well as make any work decisions in between midnite and dawn lol
