I dont think that the age difference is an issue...
But - dont shoot me for my comments, but something that you need to consider... which of these two points (below) you feel the most strongly about.
If you studied and then TTC and couldnt, would you regret it?
If you didnt study and fell pg and never ended up studing due to family committments would you regret it?
the world is full of what if's - you need to decide what is most important to you now and act on that. if its studdy - go for it, if its children - go for that

My mum and her sister are 7 years apart and very close, her brother is 18mo younger than her but they don't get along as well. I don't think the age gap is the main issue - personality and family play a big part.
FWIW - I concieved our DD2 when I was 36 and we got the BFP first try so it's not necessarily going to be hard.

Mara - im in the same position as you - but i have decided that its my turn now! my turn to do what i want to do! I have put my own life, needs and wants behind everyone elses, and now its time i start thinking about doing what i want to do!
I say go for it - 5-6yrs between bubs will be fine! just think u will have one in school and be able to spend alot of time with the new one, like u have done with ur 1st one! and u will have a big little helper to help mummy with the baby!
As a mum and a wife we always think about everyone else 1st - but there must come a time when we start thinking about ourselves!!!!
Apply for Uni and see how that goes! its a start!

If your heart is pointing you to study, then go with that hun. There is no doubt it will be a lot easier with only the one child. I guess it comes down to what you want more. Me, I am kinda hoping I can do it all lol! Will see next year how that works out for me.
BTW I get along with all my siblings - there is 8 years between me and my oldest sister, 4 years between me and my next oldest sister and 2 years between me and my little bro. As children, me and my bro were like peas in a pod - we were great mates, always playing together. As we got older though, that changed and now it's me and my sisters who are great mates. Of course I love my bro but I am closer to my sisters now that we are all grown up.

Sammiejane, I would absolutely positively have massive regrets if I never had the opportunity to do this degree. I've wanted to be a mid since I was a birth partner at the age of 18 (14 years ago) and I'm very passionate about it. I'll also probably have to work until I'm 65 or so, so I'd be very unhappy if I spent my whole life in a career I didn't get any satisfaction out of.
Of course I would be disappointed if i couldn't conceive a second child also, but I am blessed to already have the one I have so I guess I'd try to look at it that way.
Nai, that's good to hear that you fell straight away with your second bubba and also that your mum and her sister are 7 years apart but are till close.

bon, I think I know what is in my heart, well, they both are, but the urge to study just doesn't let up iykwim.
