    FS recommendation Melb SE suburbs

Can anyone recommend a FS in the outer South East Suburbs? I've just been referred on to one at Notting Hill but I'd prefer someone around my local area if I can get one. That would mean Dandenong, Narre Warren, Berwick or Cranbourne area.

I've been referred on to Dr David Healy at the Reproductive Biology Unit of Monash at Notting Hill. Does anyone have any experience with him or at this unit?

MIVF has a regional clinic at Dandenong. It means that your FS is in the city, but a lot of the other appts can be done at Dandenong. That's where i go.

Thanks kotare, I might give that a go. I looked up their website and they look quite good. Thanks for the recommendation.

Hi there, I also go to the Dandenong MIVF clinic, the nurse there is so lovely. All scans, blood tests etc are done there by Jo and only the pickup and transfer and follie scan is done in the city. And there are doctors that consult there, I think Dr. Scott Pearce is one of them... Good Luck!

Jo is lovely isn't she. It is nice to see the same nurse and be able to ring and chat to her. DH likes her too, which is good for him that he feels he can be involved with her too.
I went with my FS as he consults at the Bays in Mornington sometimes, but i rarely see him there - it is easier to just drive to the city to see him.

Sometimes I think poor Jo gets sick of me that I phone her so much :-) But she never complains and is always so helpful. Who's your FS by the way at The Bays, I'm moving there very soon... I'm so sorry to see your fist cycle was a bust Jo... x When do you start again?

I ring her too - she never seems to mind and she says 'just ring if you need to'. I couldn't fault her on anything. She knew all about our 'not so great cycle' when i rung her a few days after and she didn't even look it up or anything. She had gone through it all already. And she knows you when you ring, without typing your name into a computer.
Dr Jim Tsaltas is my FS. He has rooms in Glen Waverley and at Freemasons too. He is great and we like him a lot. But...he's always hard to get into. Although, I must admit a couple of times i've really pushed his receptionist and refused to accept a 4/5 week wait and she has 'found' early appointments. I will be seeing him at the Bays next Friday. We've got a load of questions!

Funnily enough this is the same FS that MIVF recommended I see if I want to be seen locally.

I'm thinking about making an appointment through his rooms but I'm still tossing up if I should just go to a gyno but I guess at my age (40) I need to not waste time and make a decision on it.

My major concern with a FS is that they will push for IVF and at this stage I'm not interested in that. My last FS (years ago) was pushing for that from word go even though he could find nothing wrong so I just stopped going.

Is this FS like that or does he try other avenues first?

Hey Shazz and Bokkie - snap!! Funny - we have probably passed each other in the waiting rooms along the way! I always smile at the other ladies waiting and i sometimes wonder 'do i know you?'

Satya - I think it's really important to find a FS who you (and your partner) can establish a great rapport with - and this is more important than how convenient their rooms are. We were always very keen on getting as much intervention and assistance as possible, and he has been very good with this. He is an ECCA specialist and this was important for us, and for this reason we are prepared to endure sometimes long waiting times to see him. Our initial appt took over 2 months to get.

I can't say - yes, go to him he's great, because i feel you are best finding someone that suits your situation and the way you wish to be treated. As far as that goes he's great for us, and we are very happy with him.

LOL Jo I do the same, especially if I am at Dandenong when I have a later appointment as most of mine are normally at 7.30 as I work in Dandy but live in Mornington. I alsway think I wonder if I chat to you on a forum etc. I see your going for another cycle in July, fingers crossed we're going for another FET and good luck with your appointment on Friday. Would love to keep in contact with you all if thats ok??

Satya you may have to go to a gyno to get a referal to see Jim, I think thats right so it might pay to speak to a gyno first.......... and its cheaper lol.

I'd love to keep in touch Shazz.
Can I ask how you got so many snowbubs? Was that from just one stim cycle? We didn't have a great 1st cycle and only one emby made it to day 2 and it was a bit of a long shot, and it didn't make it. I want some snowbubs too!!! It gives me hope when i see others who have great results.
Dr Jim better get one of us UTD soon, or i'll tell him we are comparing notes on him!!!

    Hi Jo,

I have pcos so I am prone to more follicles. The last fresh cycle I was on 225ml and they found over 60 follies and were going to cancel the cycle, I begged and pleaded to go ahead. The nurse went and rung Jim and he said to drop my dosage down, do pick up but will wait till transfer to see how I am due to OHSS.
I went for pick up, they got 32 eggs and 18 fertalised. When I went in for transfer I was adament that I wanted 2 transfered (which is what I always get and have fallen pg twice out of 3 fresh cycles), but when I got there I asked him what he thought and he said he would prefer only one as he didn't want to risk my health and that of the baby's if I fell pg.

Trust me I am so lucky to have them, they are my little footy team but as I don't respond to FET's I am also a little worried.

Oh and good luck with tomorrow!!

    Shaz
Just thought i'd pop in and say hi!
Can you believe that if (the BIG IF) everything goes like it did last cycle i will be having my ET on the 5th of July too! Funny
But nothing went to plan last time, so i imagine it will probably be all over the place this time again - but i'll let you know. I'll definitely be hoping that i get Jim doing my transfer as i got the on-call dr last time (a weekend) and it would have been nicer to have Jim there.
Are you doing a natural FET or do you need OI?
Hope things are going alright for you ATM. Only a month to go for you - yay!!

    Hey Jo,

Glad to hear all is going ok!! If you go fri or sat for transfer more than likely you will get another Dr.

My FET was going to be a Artificial one as I was O'ing day 35 for 3 cycles, but since losing some weight I have gone to day 17 so looks like it could be a natural one. I think we will go Aug as thats when house settlement should be IF we sell our house at auction, so keep your fingers crossed for the 23rd June!!

    Keep me updated pls.

    Hugs
    Shazz.
