    Monash Brisbane

I have been googling IVF clinics and was wondering if anyone has been to a Monash clinic here in brisbane and what did you think and what were their upfront costs (if you can recall).

    Thankyou

    Hi Bek74,

I had a friend that went to monash in 04 at the wesley hospital and they were great. My OB I had with Olivia also does fertility with the monash and his name is Dr Ross Turner he is really wonderful too.

I wish you all the very best and hope your IVF Journey is a short one.

    Hi Bek,

I've also been looking into IVF in Brisbane. We are going to a seminar on Monday night at the Wesley which should give some more info. The website has details if you can go along. I will take notes on the costs and post later in the week too for you. Some of the F.S. at the Wesley have long waiting periods to get an appointment. Our first choice of F.S. wasn't available till november!!! We quickly changed our minds to someone who could see us sooner.

All the best for your journey - we are just starting out and I'm finding it is horrible.

    Take care,

    Ruth

I wouldn't be able to go on a Monday night, infact just about every night is full with sporting activities with the kids, lol.

I will look forward to reading your post about all the info and pricing etc etc. Thankyou so very much. Maybe you could get double pamplets and mail them to me (if it isn't to much trouble).

I am so scared about starting, is it really that horrible? (enjoy the honesty). I wouldn't be starting till after Christmas so the waiting list isn't to much of a concern.

Well thankyou and I look forward to your next post

    Hi Bek,

The session was quite informative and it was good to see a sample of the staff. A dr spoke about the causes of IVF and then a scientist spoke about how they fertilze the embryo. Also the nurse spoke about the injections and dates for transfers etc. They had a mum speak about her experience too. There wasn't a lot said that wasn't on their website. One interesting new fact was that generally for women under 35 they will only transfer 1 embryo in per cycle. They really didn't say much about costs till the very end and then it was only a ball park figure as everyone can vary. Basically, first round of IVF is around 3500 with no private health insurance or 2000 with private health. It gets cheaper for subsequent rounds and if you do the frozen embryo thing it's about 900 per transfer. It depends on when you qualify for the medicare safety net.

Their pamphets were pretty much just what is on the web - I didn't read your post about getting two pamphets otherwise I would have! I'll see if I can scan them in (though our computer has been playing up something shocking lately!).

Basically, if you do decide to go ahead with IVF after all tests and investigations then it can start in just 4-6 weeks. They seemed very friendly and down to earth and willing to work with each couple for what they wanted to try. I also found out that IUI is generally only an option if you have a sperm count of greater than 10 mill per ejaculate - which means we are going straight to IVF!

What else do you want to know? I will try and answer.. but I have to dash now to bed.

    HTH,
    Ruth

Thankyou so much, $2000 isn't at all a bad price, I do have private Health. Like I have said in other posts, Hubby doesn't have any sperm issues and my ONLY problem is my tubes, from where I had them clamped, other wise I am fine.
So I am hoping it should be straight forward.
Is the Only putting one embryo in at a time definite, because I would want 2 at a time put in. If both took or just one then that in itself is a blessing.
Did they mention how much you have to pay UPFRONT, or is that the $2000.

    Thankyou
