Ivf with westmead

ok wonderful news!!!
we have the pill and have to call clinic on monday to find out when to start .
we had a awsom trip took about 6 hrs just to get there BUT we did and then went to meet our new dr sam soo we are thrilled to bits with him and have gotten somewere finally with him he actually listened to us not sivf did but anyway all is wonderful we are ready to go and get started we will be on 225 iu again and yes we signed our lives away to having 2 embies put back YEP 2 we are also doing what they call SPLIT and they are going to naturally fert half the eggs then ICSI the other half but with et they put the fresh ones back in firsthe said he was more than happy to do 2 embies as this is ivf-icsi # 3 and dh is now 45 so yay for dh being so old
so were over the moon here and are so positive that this is the one for us..
hows this we even get our drs email and phone number to call any time just dumb founded as sivf newcastle offers nothing like this so impressed i guess

Smithy, so glad to read your appt went well. A positive, fresh start!

Brooke, I was exactly the same when I started on the pill too. Af came for me on the sat too. I was so confused wondering if taking just 1 or 2 tabs before moving onto tan colour was right. I had rung the clinic on day 1 and was given instructions but the more I thought about it, the more I worried that it didn't seem right to only be taking a few tabs before moving back onto the active pills..... BUT, I rang the clinic again to clarify and it is correct. The nurses send out a printed overview of your whole cycle including the dates and how it all works... GL with your phone call tomorrow. I hope it puts your mind at ease. :hug:

AFM, I've finished the pill popping and have been sniffing synarel since last Tuesday which was the day of our nurses appt. Injections start 27th Aug so not long now before things will gather speed!!

ok so kust got the call back from the clinic and im to just wait for af now and call the clinic the morning she comes and then hopefully we can start the pill so im back to wait for silly old af.
not sure when she will be coming to visit either as she srrived on the 26 july and i had brown like periods up until last monday then it turned red she really is a pain in my fat ars.
so not sure if this means shell be due again around the 26th this month oh well i guess well see COME ON AF I WANNA START MAKEN BABIES
oh yeh i forgot to mention i think we have to go for the nurses app after all so another 13 hr round trip for us but at least its not until the day of synerel

I called the nurse we have to go westmead for interview and get the meds on Wednesday 3rd sept (cant wait) then start sniffing. then should start injections around the 19th. im so excited!!! lets pray that AF comes on time cause i should have my eggs collected around the 3rd of OCT. ( i have to be at a wedding on the gold coast on the 11th of OCT) Nothing like squeezing in all in) Hopefully my relaxing holiday might help!!!! :dance::cryinglaugh:

Injections start 27th Aug., BT 2rd sept.. U/S (and BT) 3 or 4 or 5 sept depending on bt results... EPU is planned for Mon 8th or Tues 9th Sept... I keep thinking i'm still about 6 weeks off but it's more like 3 weeks! :pray: I don't need to go back to the clinic until my first bt... Picked up all meds on the same day as the nurse interview.

I can't imagine what it must be like having to travel such distances to get to the clinic. You girls have an extra hurdle!

the travel bit doesnt worry us it is a bit of a pain but hopefully all worth it this time for us:pray:and the nurse said even if we have to do the nurses app they will give me all the drugs and paper work for scans and stuff so much easier then its just EPU and we will stay a few days for transfer.

Hi Mrs M,

Everything for an ivf cycle is included in the 1450... from start to finish... all meds, operating theatre, anaesthetic, everything.

The initial consultation with our doctor was an upfront fee of $260 but we only ended up out of pocket about $30 once it was claimed though medicare. Any follow up visits are bulk billed.

Goodluck Mrs M. We used Westmead and they were great. I needed extra med and scans on top of what i had cause i had plenty of eggs but they werent getting big enough fast enough and it was all included. Goodluck :goodluck:

Sorry cant help you there i had a male fertility specialist and at the clinic i had abit of both. Leave your pride at the front door and pick it up on the way out is my moto. As long as they get the job done and get it done right thats all that matters!

I took Breah to the clinic today to show her off and to thank them for giving her life.
They said to me is she always this happy, always full of smilies and always up for a chat. Lol i guess shes like her mum there.

Dr Lorance Melhem is my gynaecologist and she is fantastic!

I haven't gone through her as a FS as I am using a different service, but I would heartily recommend her as a gynae!

We r booked into see DR Melhem begining of janurary, How long does the process take? from 1st visit till 1st cycle?

GOOD LUK WITH YOUR IVF HUN ITS A VERY LONG JOURNEY BUT IM SURE YOULL BE FINE AND I HOPE YOU GET YOUR BFP FIRST GO .
we are going through westmead this time and from the day we seen our fs we just had to wait for af to come to start the pill,BUT.. as we have already been through ivf 2 times we had already had all out tests and SA done so that saves time .
then you take the pill and syneral and injections and all up our actuall cycle takes nearly 7 weeks that is full IVF-ICSI
so have you had all your testing done hun ?? then if all is set to go really its up to you as to when you start

Krissy mine was about 8weeks.
One of my friends has just started they seen the fs Dr Soo last thursday but had all there tests with them to save time example past test full blood test sperm count etc and her expected date for egg pick up is 4th of November.

Thanks heaps, wow i never realised it would take so long, Yeah we have had all the tests done already, Hubby's :sperm: are "homer" like as DH calls it, and i dont Ovulate. Was on Clomid for 6 months but nothing happened.
Can you still work while all this is going on, the needles and pills?
Is it weird the im really excited to get started?

and to answer your question ..yep i still work at a nursing home in the kitchen and we work bloody hard to but this time i think im going to stop and take it easy but im sure its up to the indvidual i get a bit funny when im going through my cycles and dont really wont to work lol..

AFM i started the injections yesterday at 150mg im so excited its closer to the end.and i can have my ultrasounds done at home.
Smithy ask them cause 1st nurse said no but 2nd nurse said yes??? save the travelling
so now i dont have to go back down there till egg collection YAY!!

and yay for you doing your injections your nearly there ive been thinking of you heaps;)that is so good about the scans and thank you for the info cause i also rang the other day and i got a real *****y nurse who said i had to go there for the scans but then the other nurse told me i can have them at home ??i just saves so much time .fuel,money,accomadation and all that stuff so i will be asking again when i go down on the 30th of this month for nurse app

Hope everyone has had a wonderful wknd so far!!:p I wont be in for a week as im going away to study (doing TEN), so My hospital pays for me to stay there during the course, it goes for 8 weeks initially(year in total) but i come home on wnds.
Its Nice to speak with people who understand the crazy rollercoaster we're on. Thanks heaps!!:hug:
