Smithy and Brooke i have a question. One of the girls in another thread has started threw westmead and they are fighting her on having two embyos put back??? Whats the go with that! Ive known her for 2 years now and we met up when she came down for her appointment and now i feel like abit of **** telling her she can have two put back and there saying NO

yes u can have 2 embies in, im sure depending on the circumstances they prefer u to do 1. but if u insisted u want 2 they would. im on my first round of IVF with westmead and they suggested that i only do 1. but it does say in the booklet and im sure on the website u can do 2. if its advertised they do 2 well they would have to. perservere with that if thats what your friend wants!!!!

Did u have have 2 embies transfered last time with your little girl? or did she naturally split?

I've just been through my 1st ivf cycle with Westmead. There's new legislation, brought in July 1st 2008, where under 35s can only have 1 embryo replaced. You sign a form at the FS appt saying you understand and agree that only 1 will be put back in. . . Higher risks for the babies, higher risks for pregnant mum, higher chances of health problems for twin pregnancies and not a significant number of difference in success rates of live birth for those who've had 1 embryo replaced compared to those who had 2 put back in.

Brooke yeah we had 2 put back cause at the end of the day it was up to us. I checked the web site and it still says yes to having 2 put back. When i called there 8weeks ago they asked me would i be doing another cycle in the near future and would i choose to have 2 put back again so im abit confused as to why the change, It almost seems like one rule for one couple and a different one for the next:dunno:. She is fighting them on it and they are taking it to the board. Good on her i reckon, if they changed the rules and the laws then they should change the information packs they send out and there website.

hi Everyone thought i would fill u guys in on my process
had my ultrasound and blood test done today all is well. got the dates for everything today
- back to syd on wed for one more injection, ultrasound and blood test
- wednesday night have my trigger injection
-friday is egg collection
-monday get hopefully pick of the crop little goggie egg put in !!!

Hello ladies,

Ive been a long time reader of this thread as im too planning on going through Westmead for IVF. We have an appointment on 15 January with Dr Soo but have been trying to get into Dr Lok instead. We see have MFI so Dr Lok would be better suited i presume. Has anyone had any experience with him? I see he also works other IVF clinics, will he try and get us to go through another clinic even though we want Westmead?

So many questions....we live in Brisbane so will be travelling like others i have seen on here, so stressfull and sometimes i think it would be easier to go up here. Then i come back to reality and realise 10 tries at Westmead would be like 1 in Brisbane. I think Westmead would mean less stress if it doesnt work first go, i would hate to put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. Right now we are in the midst of Urologist appointments etc so all test will be done before we get to an FS. So right now im patiently waiting waiting...WAITING!

Also, I read on here about them no longer letting you have 2 embies transfered :doh:, that was so my plan as putting 2 in would mean a higher chance of pregnancy and less chance of having to travel back down to Sydney. Does Westmead encourage flare/antagonist cycles...i really really really do not want to be on the pill!

well im back for the long wknd, hi everyone!! how is it all coming along??
Anyone have plans for the wknd? My hubby has gone away with "the boys" camping and motorbike and 4WDing for the long wknd. So me and E r just going to chill. Ive got a Major exam tuesday and 3 assignments so i think ill be pretty busy!!
Welcome mmam!!!! I am booking in to see DR Melhan (i think thats her name, my peice od paper with her name on it is missing) on Janurary 8th, Ive heard postive things about Dr Soo though!
and on a personal unrelated note Ive lost 3 kgs:dance:!!!! I really want to loose weight to give IVF/ICCS the best chance possible!!! so 3 down 15 to go!!!

im seeing Dr Soo, but today i had my EPU done and Dr Melhan did it. She lovely. i told her (right before i was out of it LOL) that she looks different from the pic,( better in person) she found that funny!!!
youll be happy with her from the vibes i got from her!

sorry i forgot to mention that i got 15 eggs YAY!!!
waiting for the call to say how many fertilised. keep yous posted.

i went really well, didnt hurt one bit. im waiting now till the 24th oct.
we had 9 fert, 5 frozen and we had a 8 cell embie put back ( he said it looked really healthy) the other 3 didnt survive. oh well lets hope this one works

Mrs M glad you have your appt with DR Soo i hear he's pretty good his office is straight across from Westmead IVF Clinic.

There is a train station just around the corner from it all. Very easy to find. I guess if your wanting two embryos put back in it would be a good move to talk to Dr Soo about it before being refered to westmead cause there the ones that say yay or nay. Then he will pass all the info over to westmead.
As for me Im very undecided as to weather i will use up my frozen embryos. I would so love too but im so flat out with the kids i have. I barely get time to shave my legs;).

hubby will find it easy enough then.
DH and I were talking about the whole IVF over the last few days and i was saying how they have changed the rules about putting 2 embryos back in we both said we would be happy with just one if thats all they will do.
mum said she wont be able to come down with us :( i'm a bit upset but it can't be help she has to work.
how is every1 else going with everything

MRS M, we have an appointment also with Dr Soo on the 15th of January!!!! :clap: How uncanny is that...and....im also a Qlderl and will be travelling there for ivf!!! That is just too weird! Our appointments at midday 15/01/09 and I cant wait...i may just have to steal your ticker!!!!

I thought that i would book my appointment well in advance to save my spot so to speak. It also has the added benefit that we now have a goal...all tests, lifestyle changes and the all important $$$ must be sorted out beforehand.

How are you going with travelling arrangments etc...i think we will be flying down in the morning and flying back in the arvo :o....well thats the plan anyway, DP has family in Auburn so we may stay there for the w/e.

Fingers crossed the initial consultation will be enough so we can jump straight in! Oh and i want 2 embies but i doubt that will happen with these new rules coming into affect...i may have to sweet talk Dr Soo :pray: Hopefully we can be cycle buddies!!!!!

how was everyones weekend mine was ok. my oldest daughter got herself a job at brumbys she only works weekends for now a mths trial but she is doing well pick it up really quick the boss is pleased with her work :D
