I'm sure the list of those who will tell you how bad it is for your child will be very, very, very long and they will also point you to numerous articles about just how dangerous soy milk is.
Both my girls ended up being fed soy formula. I fed them soy because EVERYTHING else would leave my babies rigid with pain, screaming for 20 hours out of 24 hour, almost continuous explosive diarrhea and no weight gain. I tried medication, exclusion diets while I was breastfeeding - nothing worked. I tried goats milk, lactose free formula - you name it. The suggestion of soy formula was made by a paed who specialises in treating babies/children with allergies and intolerances.
I'm not overly happy that I fed my daughters a product that there is so much negativity about. I made a choice to feed my children in a way that (A) resulted in them being pain-free and (B) stopped them from dying from malnutrition.
Good luck with your decision. I know how hard it is, and how much negativity you will receive if you proceed with soy. You have to make the decision you feel is right. Sometimes you have to decide what is the lesser of two evils. For me, choosing soy formula was the best decision I could make for the overall welfare of my girls. Time will tell if there are any long term issues for them, but at least they will have that opportunity to live long enough for us to find out.
