My lil man has been crying for a while took him to the dr and asked about changing his formula cause i felt the karicare gold wasnt agreeing with im and the dr told me to put him on lactose free/soy milk so he was on karicare gold and now have him on karicare soy he is responding well his crying is less and less.
My problem is since he has been on it anyone i talk to tells me to take him of it as it is really bad for babies. Ive been told it cause cancer and other horror stories about it. Wondering what others have done was told about goat milk being awesome for babies
I'm sure the list of those who will tell you how bad it is for your child will be very, very, very long and they will also point you to numerous articles about just how dangerous soy milk is.
Both my girls ended up being fed soy formula. I fed them soy because EVERYTHING else would leave my babies rigid with pain, screaming for 20 hours out of 24 hour, almost continuous explosive diarrhea and no weight gain. I tried medication, exclusion diets while I was breastfeeding - nothing worked. I tried goats milk, lactose free formula - you name it. The suggestion of soy formula was made by a paed who specialises in treating babies/children with allergies and intolerances.
I'm not overly happy that I fed my daughters a product that there is so much negativity about. I made a choice to feed my children in a way that (A) resulted in them being pain-free and (B) stopped them from dying from malnutrition.
Good luck with your decision. I know how hard it is, and how much negativity you will receive if you proceed with soy. You have to make the decision you feel is right. Sometimes you have to decide what is the lesser of two evils. For me, choosing soy formula was the best decision I could make for the overall welfare of my girls. Time will tell if there are any long term issues for them, but at least they will have that opportunity to live long enough for us to find out.
thank you for replying my lil man is so much happier since being on soy he is a different baby he was the same crying for hours on end was very unhappy wasnt sleeping at all during the day now has a number of little sleeps.
I still remember sitting in a cafe with a girlfriend and DD1. I had just given her a bottle of soy formula and lay her down in the pram where she nodded off to sleep. I ended up bawling right there with everyone staring at me because it was the first time in my daughter's 3.5 months of life that she had actually slept lying down.
i have dreaded going out cause i would get somewhere and he would just cry and cry if the pram stopped he would cry know i can stop and look at things without having to pick him up. i started the soy last week and finally did my food shopping without him crying this week. at first i thought he just wanted to be held all the time and you have just made me click he wanted to be upright to stop the pain my other babies had no probs with milk
Both my kids ended up on Karicare Soy, as had horrible pain, screaming, puking and constipation with every dairy formula we tried. It was horrible and terribly painful for DD1.
S26 Soy also caused DD1 major constipation problems.
I am Lactose Intollerant (diagnosed by blood test) and we suspect DD1 is as well...has all the same symptoms...but apparently we can't get a blood test for it until she's two.
Soy formula won't do them any harm unless it's not right for them (ie a soy allergy or etc)...DD1 is now a thriving almost 2 year old!
Using Soy formula and having a happy, thriving baby is better for the baby - and better for your mental health - than having a baby in pain.
