    Please help!!!!

Hi all, i'm a bit stressed out atm about how many bottles my 3 month old should be having

I saw the pead yesterday and she asked how many botle DS is having i said 4 a day at 150 mls sometimes her doesn't drink the whole lot either.

She say OMG he should be having at least 5!!
And today he had 3 bottles 2 of them at 210 mls and at 6.30 he would scream while i was trying to feed him his last bottle.

He just doesn't seem hungry at the last feed of the day! but i can't just give him only 3 bottles??

    help please!!!

    Hi,

Try not to stress. Every baby is different. At that age my 1st would only drink 120ml at a time (4 bottles a day) and the second would drink 180. (4 bottles)

If your baby doesn't seem hungry and is otherwise happy and within the normal weight range, I wouldn't be too concerned.

    Hope this helps

Definitely don't stress, all babies are different and will only drink as much as they want, not what the formula tins or anyone else says they should be having.
At 3 months old, my DD#2 was having 6 X 120mL bottles a day and would have been lucky to have emptied each one of them, even now at 7 mths, she's only just starting to drink 180mL bottles.

As long as bub is happy, healthy and gaining weight there's not much to be worried about.

Is he sleeping through the night or waking up for a feed or two?

They do seem to go through phases of having less milk, which I know can be quite stressful.

If it bothers you and you want to try and increase his consumption, maybe try a sightly different routine? Perhaps offer him a bottle when you can see he is sleepy / ready for a nap. Perhaps split his feeds up into smaller ones, more frequently?

I always found that giving my boy a dream-feed (even during his naps during the day) meant that he would take more in. They obviously aren't distracted by external things when they are asleep and tend to feed a bit more and for longer.

What really helped me was to imagine if I was breastfeeding. If I was, nobody would have any idea just how much bub would be having! The only indicators would be if he was happy, had wet nappies and if he was gaining weight. So those are the only things that matter

Like the other ladies said, don't stress. The Paed shouldn't have worried you like that imo.
At 3 months, DS was having 180mLs 5 times a day and the CHN said that was fine. He was drinking alot and he was drinking frequently and that's what she was happy with
