Could Nan HA Gold be causing colic

my baby was so good and settled before but in the last week he has not been sleeping, constantly crying, looks like he is in pain and i suspect has wind and such. The only thing i did was change formula, from S26 to Nan HA Gold.

He use to sleep 5 hours at night and now wakes up every 10-20 minutes and i have to pat him to sleep. He also suddenly wakes up screaming. He has suddenly changed so much, its really worrying, i went to the doctor but they said all babies go though this. Have also been giving infacol but that has not worked

Should i go back to normal S26?

What was your reason for changing from S26 in the first place? It could just be that your baby is going through the process of adjusting to the new formula and it may pass soon. We use NAN HA and have never had the problems you describe, but we have also been using it from birth. If there's no reason to be on a HA formula, it may be worthwhile going back to the S26 if your baby was settled and happy on it. If you do feel that you need a HA formula (family history of allergies, for example), then it may be worth persevering a little longer to see if things improve.

Yeah must have been a phase as he is ok now, sleeps 3 hrs. Only problem is he vomits frequently when I try to burp him. I am feeding ebm as well, chose this formula as many people reccomended it ands it closest to breastmilk

Definitely possible. I knew some twins once - one was on Nan and one on S26. If you got them the wrong way round, both of them would spend the rest of the day chucking everywhere.

It might be worth giving it a go at swapping back.

He has been pooing every second day for the past two weeks on this formula. He is constipated, today he pooed and it was solid, size of a 20cent piece, kinda shocked me

Must be the formula causing constipation right? I will try S26 again. But apparently S26 is known to cause constipation as well. I'm really confused what to do now

the Nan caused awful constipation & colic/wind/unsettled-ness with our boy when he was fully FF at 6 weeks of age.

Yes S-26 has that reputation (for constipation) but it is such a popular brand that the majority of babies on it must cope fine. My MCHNs warned me off that brand for that reason but I know heaps of babies who have had it and have been absolutely fine.

I'm glad that you have worked it out and found a formula that works for you. It's so hit and miss...you look at the vast array of tins and you just have to pick one and hope for the best.
