Drinking above the recommened amount of formula

My 1 month old son is drinking (possibly) too much formula.

I was unable to breastfeed and we started him off on NAN HA GOLD 1 while I was in hospital.

Currently he is taking 6-7 feeds a day and drinking anything from about 130ml to about 170ml in a feed and now is looking like he wants more!

He was a big baby at birth (weighing 4 kilos) and is now about 5.4kgs.

Please help as I don't know if I have him on the right formula or how to slow his feeding down!

Wow, good on him! I wouldn't stress too much about what the tin says about recommended feeds... all babies are different and some just have big tummies to fill!
FWIW my first bub used to drink an entire bottle every hour instead of every 3 hours like the tin says, I worried about her but she never drank so much that she made herself sick, she just stacked on heaps of weight and it all fell off the minute she started walking... she's an amazingly healthy almost-3-yo now and is tall and skinny like her dad
Your little man was a good size at birth (my DD1 was about the same!) and I guess some babies just love having a full belly - if he's sleeping well, not spewing too much and is having no problems filling his nappy, I'd say you're doing it just fine He will adjust his feeding and probably drop right off at some point, whether it's weeks or months. No probs hun Welcome to BB, by the way!! Just wanted to add that if you're seeing an MCHN for bub's checkups (or your GP), you can always ask them at your next appt and see if they have any professional advice for you. They may have some suggestions for you, but in all honesty I think if your little man is eating well and is happy, you can relax and enjoy him Good luck!
