So we went and saw the pediatrician today because it had been several days since Sophie pooped. She finally pooped and it was not hard it was normal texture. We also mentioned to the ped. that she fusses a lot when feeding and seems to have a bit more gas than normal. He suggested to try using Similac sensitive formula. It is a milk based formula that does not have the lactose in it which can sometimes cause exrta fussiness and gas. He also gave me a soy kind to use just in case the sensitive did not work. The thing with the soy formula is that it is for babies who spit up a lot. Sophie hardly ever spits up. So I asked him if it were to work how long would I notice a difference. He said probably right away. Well Sophie has had two feeds with similac sensitive and I have only noticed a slight change. Should I give it a 24 hour run through?
Could there be another reason that she is so gassy and fussy? She does not cry but she is always making noises or grunts. It is like she is always trying to fart. She pulls her knees into her chest and throws her neck back and turns bright red.
I don't know what to do? She used to be ok but now this is starting to cut into her night time sleeping. She gets so fussy after eating she can not lay down, so we have to hold her .
She has some serious gas issues. I really hope this formula works...
I'm wondering if my baby boy is having the same problem. He is 11 weeks old today and last Monday I decided to put him onto formula as I thought my breast milk was drying up. Since then he only poo's once a day (if that) but his nappies are always very heavy and wet but smell like poo (nappies look like alot of wee in them only). He also pulls his legs up to his chest to poo or fart but cries also. He has not had any hard motions though - as they say that is constipation, so I think the formula is no good. I started him on that organic one form coles - Bellamys. It is cow's milk based so I'm wondering if soy might be better.
Does you little boy fuss when eating? and when he poos and farts does his face turn red and does he kind of throw his head back. That is what sophie does.
the sensistive is not working I am starting to consider soy...
it's not silent reflux is it jess? i have no experience of it but have been reading a bit about it because i think DS may have it. i'm just wondering because you say she doesn't want to lay flat after feeding...
