won't drink all of his bottle...

    ok here goes.....
as you can see from my ticker below..Jacks age
he has been having 180mls from 2 weeks ago... but the last couple of days he drinks a certain amount then chomps down on the nipple with his gums OR plays with the nipple of the bottle with his tongue and won't drink any more...
I am at my wits end!!! last night (10pm feed) he drank 90mls and that was it..didn't want anymore then this morning at his 6.30am feed he drank 120mls.. then that was it...
I am afraid he isn't getting enough... maybe the flow is too slow for him?? because previously he would guzzle his bottle but now...he is ALWAYS leaving some....
    what to do....
he is sleeping/poohing/weeing fine and is a happy boy, not sick...

Maybe its just a stage Kat? I know Miss M goes through stages where she skulls heaps and then somedays she's just not that interested!!!!!

I'd say give it a couple of days and if you are worried - pop down to the GP and get him checked out. He's not coming down with a cold or anything? Sometimes that can put them off their food.. I know you said he isn't sick - but maybe he's coming down with it?

If he is still gaining weight and plenty of wet and pooped up nappies - I wouldn't be too worried.. he's just taking what he needs.

As of yesterdY My little girl (only 4 weeks old) is struggling to finish a bottle (during her night feed she left about 60/70mls. Am a bit worried this mornings feed she only left 30 mls. She seems ok and is weeing and pooing. Guess will keep an eye on her and monitor her

ness.... read ALL the above posts and trust me they don't need to drink ALLof their bottles EVERY time...i had Jack drinking 60mls out of 180mls...got me damn worried...BUT he was taking what HE wanted....you can't force them to take every last drop....

I can only speak for babies from 7 months on....buuuut, DS#1 never drank a whole bottle until he started on cows milk at 12 months and Noah will only drink between 60mls - 180mls...so now I just make up a 180ml for his first bottle and last bottle and the 2 in between I make up to 120mls.....so sick of wasting formula!

I have always worked on the if bubs is happy, alert, weeing and pooing and sleeping when they should....all is well and it is just a stage. (I think kids have too many stages and they should review them before they decide to be born so we can get them over and done with at the age of 18 yrs old! lol )

My CHN has also always said to me that weighing them is a good indication...never did it with Bailey but with Noah I have had him weighed when I start to wonder if he is okay and each time he has put on some weight.

If in doubt, see your CHN! or ask us here at BB!!!!

Yes some great advice. I guess i shouldn't take things so literal. They are little individuals after all
