I like it with banana, oat milk and honey, but I dont' eat it that much as I LOVE toast :p I think oats is much healthier though and if I could walk past the toaster I'd eat oats every day

blerch! not for me. DH eats it and will give DD a go when he makes it next. Hope she doesn't like it cos i'm not gonna make it, it stinks  (need a better vomit pic)
Yay.. With honey or brown sugar and lots of milk.. Yummy.. My Grandmother used to make it for me :)
I love love love porridge and have it the proper Scottish way - with SALT! And lots of it :D
We love our oaties, have them at least 5 times a week. Imogen likes chopped banana and honey, I just like it plain.
I do prefer Carmens Oats. Yes more expensive, but Aussie owned, not GMO, just all natural goodness. If money is tight, then I grab Lowens.
I might have to give them a whirl, Astrid. I haven't seen them at the shops but the shop gets in just about anything you ask for so it's worth a shot.
i drown mine in golden syrup, and then tell myself i'm being really healthy having such a 'good' breakfast
Coles have Carmen's Oats, but Woolworths don't from what I can tell, even though they have the other Carmans cereals. Black box, normally on the top shelf.
Count me in.
Has to be made with all cream milk and I serve it with full fat cream and some blueberry jam. Because I'm such a health nut.
I used to buy rolled oats. Now I'm a fan of the Be Natural 3 Grain sachets (oats, rye and barley). I often have two sachets and I don't think about food again for hours and hours and hours. If I just have toast or cereal, I'm a raving starving lunatic again by 11am.
Actually, all oats are GMOs. All cultivated crops are. Just because they were genetically modified over generations by selective breeding doesn't mean they haven't been genetically modified. (OK, this is just me being pedantic and geeky.)
I have it many mornings for brekky at work.
a small amount of oats, water, 10 sultanas and a teaspoon of honey when it's cooked.
yum!
"That's no'r how ya make porridge!" (anyone else remember that ad?)
I thought the proper Scottish way was so thick you need a saw to hack through it!!
My mum is a scot too and likes it with salt. Everyone likes it in my family except me. I want to like it. I really do! But I can feel the gag reflex when I get about 3 spoons in.
I had it for breakfast this morning whilst everyone else had bacon and eggs :D cooked on the stove with milk and golden syrup YUM
DD likes it but DS LOVES it! With a little honey and milk.
I'll eat it but not really fussed
I love porridge (semolina too :) )
I love it with a nob of butter, sugar and milk. I like my semolina the same way too!
i read this thread when it started and my reply was YUCK NO WAY. dh bought some and made me a bowl......i now start my day with a big bowl of porridge, made with milk, honey and cinnamon. handfull of sultanas and chopped up apple. bit of extra milk on top and YUMMO!!! Where have you been all my life!!
Thanks, now I have seen this post, I have no choice but to go across to the shops and buy some porridge as I suddenly have a massive craving for the stuff. I love it with a lil milk and lots of sugar lol
This time last year I gave serious thought to starting a blog called Pimp My Porridge. I had it so many different ways, it was awesome. Can barely remember them all, but a few faves:
Dried cranberries and apple puree
Dried apple and cinnamon
Banana, sultanas and nutmeg
Soaked dried figs, cardamom pods and vanilla essence
I usually cook it in water, then add milk. Sometimes I soak the oats overnight first, then heat. I had so much fun playing porridge last year.
Amazingly, my baby is a human, and not an oat, as may have been expected.
Blerck is all I have to say to this thread!
