So i moved into my new house today and the previous tenant has left some Tomatoe, broccoli( i think), Beans and strawberries.. now my question is ( and i know im going to sound like the biggest idiot i know) But do i just water them there seems to be off tomatoes there and some of the plant looks at bit worse for wear..?
The broccoli looks like the leafs have been eaten by something how do i maintain them all besides the obvious watering lol!!
As u can tell im no gardener
P.s if your on my fb you can see photos in my 'new beginnings album which will show u the veggie garden if that helps
Thanks hun im hopeless the last time i gardened i pulled out a weed and a cantoad jumped out at me from the ground..lets just say its been a very long time since ive gardened ..lol!
guess im going to have to be brave and get into it soon as some vegies would be great ! if i can keep them alive lol
the brocolli, from the pic, looks like it's been attacked by either snails of cabbage moth - google companion planting for natural ways to naturally combat the bugs
i'll have a better look at pics tomorrow if you remind me - i'm about to go to bed
If the tomatoes, beans & broccoli look bad pull them out. The strawberries should be be fine but give them a feed. Dig in some blood & bone and replant your tomotoes & beans along with peas, all sorts. Depending on where you live you will most likely have to water every day. Get a watering can so you can both enjoy watering.
Your DD will love picking the peas & beans and eating them raw. Putting down sugar cane mulch will also help keep the ground moist and use plenty of snail bait or you will end up with no veggies by morning
Start small this year and see how you go. Don't forget to rotate your crops each planting, this rests the ground.
When we come over on the weekend I can have a look at the plants and give you a hand to figure out what to keep and what has gone beyond saving. Also I won't do it this visit because you have so much going on, but next time I come down I will come visit and bring you some cuttings from our thyme, mint, rosemary and anything else you want. And don't worry I will teach you what to do to keep them alive lol.
Looking forward to seeing you and building up a little stash for your new little home!
