How good are manual grass cutters?

We've just moved into a new place and there is a very tiny patch of grass, maybe 2 m x 2 m. We have never maintained a garden before and I'd be a little embarassed getting a gardener to come in for such a small patch.

Has anyone used the manual grass cutters? They are on a broom stick and it seems I push them around. I reckon I could handle that!

If anyone has used them and thinks they are ok let me know!

    Cheers,
    Fiona

A friends DP mows lawns for a living. His dad has done it for years also. He himself owns a manual grass cutter because he prefers the job it does

We used to have one when we first moved in here as we just could not afford a powered one. They are okay if you keep on top of the grass. A bit hard going if you let the grass grow to long.

    Agreed.

They are actually pretty easy to use if the grass isn't super thick or super long. Much smaller and easier to manouver than a big petrol powered mower. We have one to do the courtyard in our unit, about three times the size of what you are talking about. $60 ish from Bunnings.

Thanks for the advice. I might get it professionally done first up and then maintain it from now.

Mitchell got a lawn mower that blows bubbles for Christmas so he can help me.

Hahahaha I used one last weekend on our longish grass.... Absolute hell....... I could see how you could use it on very short grass but they are a lot of muscle work.....

too much for me and I'm pretty fit, have only about 4m x 4m......
