How much do you pay your mower person?

How much do you pay for someone to mow?

What is a reasonable amount of a 800m2 vacant grass block?

the cheapest we had for about 800sqm (but all on a massive hill) was about $60.

but then in canberra for a 1000ish block it was $150...

it really depends on where you find them! we found the cheapest really came from the classifieds and were just old boys doing odd jobs on the side...HTH

When we moved from our last house we were charged $60 for our back yard which was 600sqm which I honestly think was way too much. Just asked DP he says probably not too expect change from $40.

Lol Rach. I'm a bit the same...not that our lawn gets mown very often
We did get someone in to cut it once, they did a great job and cost roughly $40/50 (I don't know cause DF paid for it...) have no idea how big our yard is, but the grass was pretty long...

Thanks guys. We have a block about 800m2 which is vacant and we have been paying $66 a mow. The problem is that firstly we live a long way away from the block (12 hours drive). Secondly there is not really anyone else in the area who will do it. There is a black hole for mower people there it seems. Even the local council etc have told me that they don't know anyone else. We have been relying on the mower man to tell us when it needs doing, we then transfer money into their account and they do it. We gave him mowing money late Feb then he didn't contact me till late April. I didnt really think anything of it because I cant see if it is getting long or not. But he said that as the grass was really long we would need to pay him twice the amount $132 to get it done for this once. I didnt have too much choice but we are quite low income so had to pay it in two installments - the first right away and the second two weeks later. So I gave him the second amount on the 8th of May. Imagine my surprise when on the 26th when I get a letter from the council saying the block is in disrepair etc. Grrrr. I called the mower man and he said he would do it the next day.
But I am pretty angry about the whole thing. But not sure what options I have. I know it has been done because I have spoken to the neighbours there and the council but I can't hassle them to tell me when it needs mowing.
Just a vent no need to reply.

i think the price is averagebut what a PITA about him not being reliable!!

Are you able to get your hands on a local paper? Perhaps the neighbours can pay them on your behalf when its done?
