    Skin irritation

Just wondering, we've been under a large amount of stress lately and DH has broken out in a nasty itchy rash on his back and neck. It looks like a shaving rash, red and tiny pin***** spots. I haven't changed laundry detergent and he has been using the same shower gel for years.

Could stress be causing the rash?

    TIA.

Stress could be the cause. My mum was going through a tough stressful time a couple of years ago and broke out in a rash, was very itchy and nothing seemed to fix it. Then she got help for what turned out to be depression and the rash went away (not saying your DH is depressed, just making the stressed out comparison!).
Obviously telling your DH to stress less is easier said than done - myself personally I found acupuncture to be amazing for stress when I was doing my PhD and going through fertility issues. Is that something he might be keen to try? Otherwise just trying to take some time out to relax, even if it's just an hour on the weekend for him to chill out, may be useful. And of course take care of yourself too if you are also stressed out!

When I get really really stressed, my forearms get really itchy, I scratch, even in my sleep, and I get a rash. So I scratch..... not sure what starts first, the scratching or the rash, but it's a sure fire sign to me I need to do some serious destressing.

I hope the stress eases for you both really really soon

Thanks girls. He's having heaps of PS3 time at the moment to relax, keeping him sane from what's been going on. Poor bugger is just clawing at himself, even asked for me to drive to his job today for a change of t-shirt because the one he had on was making it even more itchy (old t-shirt that has seen better days!!)

Hopefully we're heading into calmer waters, so fingers crossed the rash backs off too. Cheers.
