Red face Bowel movement question regarding DH

My DH has been recently having (tmi!) frequent, smelly loose bm's for the past week or so. He drinks quite a bit of water, is fit and we eat fairly healthy. He has no idea what has brought this on. I suggested maybe alcohol is to blame??

Any tips on what we can do to solve this problem? What are the best things to eat or take to regulate bowels? I have read soluble fibre, is this true?

    TIA

ETA: I should add that he has always been a massive dairy person and eats a lot of yoghurt too. So I don't think it is lactose intolerance.

Maybe he's just got a bit of a bug?

It may just be a bug that gets better soon. If it continues without any other symptoms then he may have Giardia.

    Could be a bug.

Maybe for a few days he should switch to white bread, avoid too much fibre. My Dr used to say no skin and no seeds. Basically anything with too much fibre will overstilmulate his bowels.

I am hoping it is just a bug. He prefers white bread anyway, though I try and make him eat wholemeal. He does eat ice cream for dessert and stuff like that, but we usually have a decent dinner and he has a good lunch.

Well, looks like I will be serving him up a big bowl of vegies tonight We'll see hoe that goes...

I'd be getting a stool sample tested

Some good probiotcs may help. The Bioceuticals brand are supposed to be quite effective.
