Does anyone know how far back you can claim Medicare?

I found somer recipts from when we were trying to conceive Jazz back in 2007 that I never presented, and because I wasn't working, so wasn't paying tax, I don't think I calimed it as an offset. I'm about to check my returns but I'm quite sure I never claimed it.

Wishful thinking, or do you think they'd accept them?

I'm pretty sure you can Leash. You need to take it in though. I remember (from my days doing that stuff so many years ago!) that we were able to process older claims. But anything over 6 months had to be done manually. Take it in and try.

Having said that, I vaguely recall there being a 12 month limit on DOCTORS claiming their rebates/payments. But because you paid it yourself, the Dr got their money so you should be able to get it back.

Sorry, that probably didn't help much. But I'm 98% sure you can.

I've done it manually for receipts 18 months old. HTH, PX

FOREVER! OK, so maybe not, but when we moved to Brissie, DH and I found some receipts that were bordering on fossilization and we still got them through - like over 3 years old. Give it a go!

What Audax said. I've found receipts that were more than 2 years old. They wouldn't process them on the spot - had to send them to some "main" office - but we did get the Medicare refund and it didn't take all that long all things considered.

Yep, as long as they are receipts with everything they need on them as in item number and so on. Over 6mths pretty sure they can process them in a Medicare office, over 2yrs it needs to be approved by the delegate in head office.
