Pap Smear (after child birth) and test results

I had a pap smear last week at my 8 week checkup. I called this morning for my results. The only info the doctor had entered was "please make non-urgent appointment". Of course I am now stressing!! I have made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon, but it can't come soon enough as far as I am concerned!!

In 2007 I had my first abnormal pap smear, in 2008 I was referred for a colposcopy. I've had two surgeries to removed abnormal cells (LLETZ & a cold knife cone biopsy). I got the all clear after that. I don't know if I could handle going through all that again right now. Plus I don't know if they would do the same again, or something more invasive

Has anyone had an abnormal result after child birth, that turned out to be okay?

Sorry I don't have any experiences for you, but I couldn't read and not post. Hope someone comes in soon with good news for you.

soon after childbirth, you are more likely to get a false positive. it is oftenrecommended to wait at least 6 months.

also, drs or receptionists also sometimes call you in for no realreason, I hope things are ok for you.

My doctor won't do them until 6 months post partum because, at HotI says it can often be a false positive.

I had one at 6 weeks but never rung for the result so I guess it was ok

But I often find my dr will say to make a non urgent appointment or even an urgent one and it turns out they just want to go through results or whatever and see how I'm going which really annoys me because I didn't really need to go

Non-urgent meant no bad news but want to make me pay for an appointment so they can get more money at my previous Doctors. With a new surgery now but haven't needed to have any tests as yet.

I has an abnormal Pap smear. It was a few weeks after having a d and c for a miscarriage. My dr said I was to have another at 6 months. It came back clear. That was 8 years ago and my Pap smears have all been good since then. Hope it is all ok for you

Sorry I forgot to come back and update! The results were abnormal and they've asked me to go back in 12 months. Hopefully it is just changes due to pregnancy/child birth. Thanks for all your thoughts and advice
