    Exclamation HELP!! It really hurts

I don't know what's wrong wiht me but I am in a lot of pain and it's awful

I have a feeling like something is wedged in my throat that just won't move. It has been like this since last night.
The last time this happened I assumed it was from taking my antidepressants without food and it was gone within three hours, now it's still here and I ate last night.

It hurts in the base of my throat where my collarbone is and right down to my sternum. I can feel it in my right shoulderblade as well.

It is making me feel really sick and no matter how much I have drunk or eaten to try and push it out it's not working. I just want it to go away. Can't get into the GP til monday...

Ash - did it happen after you took a pill? Cos I know sometimes when I take a vitamin it seems to get stuck and i have pain in my throat for like a day later - I think it sorta "bruises" your throat so you feel like there is something stuck there, even if its not.

Nerves are funny things so it could be affecting how the rest of your body feels.

Or you could always stand on your head with your mouth open and see if anything drops out

    LOL

On the serious side - I hope it clears up for you soon.

Yep Mel it was a pill, a tiny little one dammit. *sigh*
That will teach me to swallow with no water (you'd think i would have learnt by now!!)
I've seriously been thinking making myself throw up but if it doesn't work then I have had the unpleasant experience of vomiting for no good reason. GRRRR!!

MT have called the clinic and they said he is already running behind for the day, so i doubt my chances in getting a call, but we shall see.

Cookiemonster, ring the GP and tell them you are having CHEST PAIN (well you are, sort of) and want to see a Dr ASAP. The words CHEST PAIN should put the wind up them, the drs ALWAYS squeeze ppl in if it's urgent.

Agree with Marydean as well - tell them you're having chest pains which you are. You really need to see a doc today because you are feeling so ill from it.

Hope you are feeling better soon

If you have chest pain you need to see a Dr ASAP as previously described. I would definately try some mylanta too. You would be surprised how much it can help. We have had patients in before who have experienced tightening of the throat and its been because of reflux etc. The other thing that I am concerned however is that you may have an allergy to something you have had that you have no had before. Can you think of anything you have had recently that was new to your diet? If you have problems breathing, chest pain please go to your nearest hospital. I know its not the most comfortable thing sitting in an emergency waiting room but it is important that you do if you experience any tightness of your chest, pain radiating down your left arm, sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing and if you feel like your throat is closing over. If you live in Victoria, give the Nurse on Call a ring, they are absolutely fantastic and can give you professional advice over the phone on what to do. Its a free call number and since I dont know if I am allowed to put in numbers or links, I will just tell you that you can easily find it in google if you type on Nurse on Call Victoria.

I hope you feel much better soon and let us know how you get on k?

what you need to do is get the tablet to dissolve, the best way is to drink a warm/hot drink.

i really hope you can make it go away..

    good luck hun

Thanks for the responses but I'm pretty sure Mel was probably spot on with her guess about it brusing nerves or the like in my throat. Am fine today, but no doubt it'll only take a few weeks before im back to taking pills without water and it will happen again.

This happened to me with an anti-biotic when I took it without food and went to bed not long after. Some medications can reflux on you and can actually burn the bottom of your oesophagus. It feels exactly like you described. Mine lasted for about 4 days. If it is really bad, it may be ulcerated from the chemical burn. Either go back to your dr for advice or contact the company who makes the medicine for some advice. Hope this helps.
