Question I'm booked in for Laproscopic Surgey on Thursday and need some advice

    Hi

As the title says I'm booked in for Lap surgery on Thursday to remove some endometriosis and have a bit of a look around at things while I'm under...
I'm ok with the fact I'm having surgery and all that goes with it as I've had it done before BUT I'm not feeling very well. I have had a very sore throat and my head and my back is sore.. I also have a bit of a cough which is made worse due to my asthma and I can't get in to see a GP until Friday and by that time my surgery day has passed obviously..
So my question is should I still go and have the op if I'm still not feeling better or should I just go ahead with it?

    TIA

You will be feeling quite sore after the lap and it could be quite uncomfortable if you are coughing a lot. I honestly don't know what I would do if it were me. The first time I had a lap done I had the tube down my throat for anaesthetics and it was really sore afterwards, but the second time I only had the mask, so I didn't have a sore throat. Ask your anaesthetist if your sore throat will be a problem perhaps? I was able to call mine before the op to talk things over if I needed to, so perhaps you can do that too?

Yeah, I'd give them a call and see what they recommend.

No advice, just a hug. I'll be thinking of you on Thursday

Ring them and ask. You will need an anaesthetic review before surgery anyway but I would hate for you to get there and then cancel on you.

Thanks for your repiles I'll call the hospital today and see what they say.
I know from past operations with this Dr I've only had the mask and no tubes down my throat all with the same anaesthetist and it will be the same guy on Thursday.
Oh and thanks for thinking of me
