How long have you had to wait to get your pap test results back?

I am going to a new Dr and i have to request my medical history from my old Dr, for me to do this i need to complete forms and have them send it to the new Dr, they wont send me a copy without me completing forms and having it sent to the new Dr.. why on earth can i NOT get a copy of my own medical records?

I had an abnormal pap result a couple of years ago, was meant to go abck for yrly testing but fell PG with DD1 bled for ages then basically fell PG with DD2, i should have had one by now but kept putting it off.
It's done now but i am nervous waiting.. i don't know why.. i'm sure everything is going to be fine i just can't help but worry.

I can't remember how long it took for my old results to come in, the lnoger it takes the more nervous i get.. i know it can take a couple of weeks etc but argh hurry up already.

Sorry not sure where this thread is going, needed to get it out, i'm being silly i know everyone has to wait.

I think it can take up to a week. If it's been longer than that don't worry about it, the dr would ahve contacted you if there was something wrong.

I have no answers in regards to your records sorry. But as for the results. I had an abnormal pap smear which was done on a Thursday and they called me into the office on the Sunday. So i think if something comes back abnormal, they would more than likely call you up and tell you to come in straight away. I think from memory, previous times it took about a week. But no news is good new!

Thanks girls, i called to get the authority form and they didn't mention that results were back yet so maybe they are still waiting, if i haven't heard by the end of the week i might call and see.

I know theres prob no reason to be nervous, i think i am just more worried as my AF is so different to before my girls and quite painful and i'm wondering what changes are happening down there.

When I had abnormal results on a pap smear I was called back 2 days later. (mine showed CIN 3).

I'd just give your GP a call and ask how much longer you can expect to wait for the results. If you tell them that you're quite anxious to get them they'll probably chase up the place and try and get them rushed through for you.

On another note, I had similar thing about 9 months before getting preg with DS. I was told to go back for a follow up pap 1 year later but couldn't because I was preg. I was a bit worried about it, but had one done 3 months after having DS (so about 18 months later) and everything had gone back to normal. Try not to stress too much honey, if it was a low grade abnormality, chances are it will have cleared up by itself.

Thanks again ladies, i don't know why but today i am just REALLY nervous about it, i think if i call i will feel worse, the Dr said he woudl call to discuss results as i am looking at going on mirena so even if they are clear he's going to call me
I just woke up with this dread feeling today and i haven't even been thinknig about it.. argh!

Hi I had a abnormal Pap Smear back in 2005 nearly died of fright and went into denial, yes i didnt do any of the follow ups as i was so scared. I had another smear with a different dr like 12 months after the abnormal one and it came back normal and thats when the dr explained why it could be abnormal eg 'an abnormal smear can be alot of things from blood on the smear to you having a virus to the nasty stuff.' she said She told me if her pts come back abnormal she does another PAP in her office then if that one is off then she refers her pts to get it done by specialists.
So my last one was oct 2006 and i havent had one since as i fell pregnant when i due to have another then i forgot all about it and now im pregnant again ... but as it will be 4 yrs i will definitely do it after this bub is born . What im trying to say PLEASE PUSH IT OUT OF YOUR MIND as if it is abnormal it doesnt have to be the big Ca word ok .

Thanks... mine was a low grade abrnomality and i know it's normal and that they can come back clear etc i have no idea why i am stressing about it now, i think it's more the fact my AF has changed etc and i am just going insane..
I am telling myself it will be normal and fine... i am hoping the abonrmality is gone and they say no more yearly tests (not that i have had them yearly) but i'm not a fan... lol
